LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM--Nutrition & Fitness - such a pair !
Guests: Wayne Sather of Downtown, Fred Stone's grandchildren, Cathy Berger, guest of Char Pachniak
President Ann thanked those that helped at the Rotary intersection last evening. She also reminded members to get their tickets sold.
PROGRAM: We learned tips that included:eat
- eating 3 meals a day, don't skip breakfast.
- choose whole grain, high-fiber foods.
- include fatty fish to provide Omega 3 in the form of DHA & EPA - aim for 2 servings per week on wild salmon, sardines, or halibut.
- snack on a single handful of nutes on most days of the week
- have 3 servings of low-fat dairy per day in the form of milk, yogurt, or cheese.
- choice olive oll over vegetable iol for healthy monousaturated fats.
- eat more fruts and vegetables.
- avoid liquid calories.
- choose soy as a low-fat alternative to meat or dairy.
Our ancestors had to do alot of exertion to obtain their daily food. Now we don't need to 'catch' our food and thus obesity becomes more and more of a problem.

FROM EARLY BIRD FOUNDATION:
Early Bird Rotary has a 501c3 Foundation charged with making the fiscal decisions as Early Birds reach out to impact lives locally and globally. This group meets quarterly evaluating the many requests that come in and making decisions that they feel will be in the interest of Rotary's goals and objectives.Three current positions are up for re-election/election. If you have questions, or think you might be interested contact Dr. Feider. A slate will be presented to the membership at the Foundation Annual Meeting, June 30th.
You should have received a separate email with an update of how Early Birds through our Foundation have been able to make a difference. IF YOU DON'T REMEBER GETTING THIS, LET CHAR KNOW. |
