| LAST WEEK -- Salvation Army | | Guests: Ken King
A REMINDER TO OUR MEMBERS TO START THE BREAKFAST LINE BY 6:50AM!!
Jeanne Kliejunas has been working at The Salvation Army in Sheboygan for the last ten years as Business Administrator and now as Development Director. She was raised in Sheboygan and attended high school and college in Fond du Lac. Her educational background is in secondary education and business administration with an MBA from Fordham University in New York City. Jeanne has worked in non-profit and government agencies in New York, Alabama, Illinois, and Wisconsin. She was a Sheboygan Alderperson representing District 5 for the last four years serving on the city's Finance Committee, Senior Center Commission, and Sustainable Sheboygan Task Force. Her commitment at The Salvation Army is to promote its mission and to generate support for the Army's various programs. In the last ten years, Jeanne has worked to expand and develop the services offered by The Salvation Army to the greater Sheboygan community.
Jeanne shared with us the challenges of serving the most needy of our community and the various ervices that Salvation Army does offer. With their Capital Campaign they will be able to expand their services beyond the current 21 homeless they servie (sometimes over flowing to mats on the floor of the nursery. After extensive surveys of the business and community leaders in became effident tht the servies provided by Salvaltrion Army were VERY much needed. They have currently raised 2.2miolion of their 3.5 million needed. Salvation Army has been serving the community since 1895. Last near their clinic served 612. With the expaqnsion they will be able to increase their bed capacity to 35-40. 90% of those served have been residents of the area for more than 5 years.

Please take the time to check out the 6270 Conference website as it is very easy to navigate. As I write this our club only has 2 Rotarians and 2 Guests for the event. The registration is only $50 and that includes your Spouse/ Significant other. Quite the bargain for a weekend with fellow Rotarians. We have a 15 minute presentation on our annual Lobster Boil on that Saturday 5/15 at 3pm along with a table in the lobby for the entire weekend to brag about our club and the Lobster Boil. I would like to set up a schedule prior to the event to see if we can staff the table as much as possible. I am also looking for a couple volunteers to help with the presentation we will be doing. Thanks for your time as it is always appreciated.

| WE'VE GOT THE 'FINAL INCH TO GO !! |
After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions.
HAVEN'T SEEN THIS VIDEO YET, ASK JIM S. TO SEE IT!
Your contribution will help Rotary raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardships faced by their families.
As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high.
Note: A video preview is from "The Last Hurdle: Polio in India" in RVM: The Rotarian Video Magazine Vol. 2.2.
"If we all have the fortitude to see this effort through to the end, then we will eradicate polio." - Bill Gates MAKE A PLEDGE TO THE EREY FOR 2010
For more information talk with Jim Schmetzler, Ed Morgan, Bob Feider or any of our long time members. Ask how to research your giving by using your personal ID number.

| Elevator Speeches~STILL TIME~get your ideas to Tom |
Tom Bartz is still soliciting ideas for an elevator speech -- here is just one of many suggestions: (keep in mind optimum length is 37 seconds)
Rotary is an international service organization committed to humanitarian projects locally and throughout the world. Its members are diverse in age, gender, vocation and ethnicity who cultivate strong clubs able to accomplish phenomenal results. Fellowship plays an instrumental role in keeping members interested and engaged. Our Early Bird Club has fun but when a need arises, we get the job done. |
