Party Time!

Spring means it's Village Block Party time! The residents gathered on a perfect spring evening on April 9 to enjoy the weather, the BackTrax Band, a few snacks and each other's company. They also enjoyed a special guest who arrived in a familiar green van. Guess who? Scooby Do! And Shaggy! It was a groovy event!

Scooby

Shaggy and Scooby dropped by The Village Block Party to join in on some of the far-out fun. Michael Taylor led the two characters into the crowd.

Many thanks to Frost A-Team and all of their volunteer employees for making this a Super Scooby Dooooo!

April is Autism Awareness Month--help spread the word through your social network

success stories

Above, from left:  Todd Griffith, Daniel Shackleford, Abby MacKinney and Jason Miller are profiled on the Marbridge site during Autism Awareness Month.

Media reports often paint a bleak picture of the lives of adults on the autism spectrum. While the need for additional resources for care and training deserves attention, most reports ignore the potential for success. Many adults with autism can and do build happy, productive lives. Help us spread this alternative view during the rest of April. Share the stories of Todd, Daniel, Abby and Jason on your Facebook page, or through email messages to your network.
A World of Thanks!
Volunteers kick up their heels at this year's Volunteer Appreciation Banquet

Ladies took to the dance floor for some boot-scootin' line dancing.

We owe them a world of thanks for all they contribute to the lives of Marbridge residents. Our volunteers showed up in force at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, this year held at Saengerrunde Hall in downtown Austin on April 15. The event combined the German ambiance of the hall with down-home Southern cooking from Hoover's and lively Texas-style music by the Tim Hall Band.

Before the floor was overtaken by couples and line dancers, awards  were presented:

Mark Majek, Volunteer of the Year

Frost A-Team, Volunteer Group of the Year

Michelle Wyer, Outstanding Committment Award

Congratulations and many thanks to our award-winning volunteers and all of the many other volunteers who enrich the residents' lives every day.

Have you visited The Bridges Recovery Center?

It's a truly unique option for recovery from stroke, surgery or other medical conditions

Ronnie

Everyone knows that residents like Ronnie Ferrell can stay at The Bridges when recovering from medical treatment. But The Bridges is also open to the public.

You have to see The Bridges to believe it! Serene, comfortable surroundings and a homelike setting help promote recovery from surgery, stroke or other medical conditions. With a maximum capacity of eight patients, a 2:6 skilled-nursing-care to patient ratio, individualized dining care, individual telephones, wireless internet, flat-screen televisions and elegant decor -- you won't believe it's a skilled nursing center.  The Bridges will make you feel like you're healing at home. Come see why we call it "a bridge from our house to yours."
