Marbridge Board of Trustees Appoints James Stacey as President and CEO

stacey

The Marbridge Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that James Stacey was named president and CEO of the Marbridge Foundation and elected as a trustee at its meeting on May 9, 2009. Mr. Stacey has been with Marbridge since 2002 and has served as vice president of operations for most of that time. Since November 15, 2008, Mr. Stacey has served as interim president of Marbridge and has done a commendable job in that capacity. The trustees are confident in Mr. Stacey's dedication to Marbridge and its principles and in his ability to lead Marbridge in the future.

"I am honored to be selected to lead Marbridge into a new era," said Mr. Stacey. "Along with other managers and our valuable staff, I am confident we will continue to provide excellent care to our residents, while striving for continual improvement in all that we do."

Michelle Levy Promoted to Vice President of Development

levyMichelle Levy has been promoted to the role of vice president of development at Marbridge, after serving more than a year as manager of annual giving.

"Michelle has taken our outreach efforts to a new level by establishing our monthly JAM Sessions and re-structuring our development efforts," said James Stacey, President. "She has instituted new strategies, new systems and new ideas, and I expect even more improvements in our development and marketing efforts in the future."
Your Opinion Counts!

With the help of senior marketing students from UT's McCombs School of Business, we conducted our first-ever customer survey at the end of April. Here are a few highlights of what our families and sponsors told us:

  • 86% of respondents chose "satisfied" or "very satisfied" when asked if Marbridge had met their expectations.
  • 65% of respondents chose "communications with resident families" as one of the top three areas needing the most improvement. 70% chose "training program," and 63% chose "resident employment opportunities."
  • 22% of respondents chose the Web site as the mode of communication needing the most improvement.
  • Only 31% of respondents correctly defined the term "Abilities Centered Training" as a training program based on individual abilities. 32% skipped the question altogether.
  • 67% offered meanings for the slogan A Whole New Life. Three terms emerged as the most common meanings:
1) Independent Life-41% defined the slogan in terms of "a life of his/her own," or "independence."

2) Opportunities-32% used terms like "a chance to do..." or "opportunities to do..."

3) Happiness-24% defined the slogan as offering happiness and a fulfilled life
  • When choosing a care facility, 80% of respondents cited "Quality of Staff" as their most important criteria. The second highest response was "Happiness of current residents," which was chosen by 59% of respondents.
  • "Word of mouth" was the most commonly cited means for how respondents found out about Marbridge. It was chosen by 31% of respondents. "Family/friend referral" was second, at 24% of respondents.
An invitation to participate in the survey was emailed to 180 resident family members and sponsors. 93 participated in the survey, for a response rate of 52%, which is excellent compared to an average of 32.52% for most online surveys (according to Michael Braun Hamilton, Online Survey Analyst at Tercent, Inc., an online marketing research company).

Many of our respondents indicated a willingness to provide additional input through telephone interviews. We will begin making those calls next week to "dig deeper" to discover specific actions we can take to improve our communications, our training program and our resident employment opportunities.

A sincere "Thanks!" is extended to all who participated in the survey. Your input will help us improve our services!
