Summer Block Party!

block party
Clockwise: The Band; Leo Kuritza and Amy Koch dance the night away; Admissions Coordinator Sandy Lantz takes a spin with John Bonnett;
a view of the entire scene; Steve Taylor visits with dog Suesse;
and John Paul Gough lends an ear to the music.

The night brought cool relief on July 29 as our guest band of highly trained musicians started setting up amplifiers, mics and the sound board. Residents began milling about, and the scene suddenly came alive as music wafted through the air. Dancers took to the floor, people lined up to enjoy delicious root beer floats and watermelon snacks and everyone had a great time. Our first-ever Summer Night Block Party at the Village was a spectacular success! Many thanks to the highly talented musicians who donated their time, talents and treasure to give the residents an extraordinary evening. The band included Dr. Graeme Francis, Anna Mae Aldridge, Aaron Goldfarb, Dr. Russell Haight and Marbridge resident trainer Pat Harris, who was instrumental in pulling the band together in only three days! As true professionals, they delivered an impressive and harmonious performance!

You'll read about other summer events in the upcoming third quarter issue of Marbridge Life, our print publication. (Want to subscribe? Contact Suzanne to get on the mailing list.)

Drum fun!

 Clockwise:  Kenneth Jones and John Alexander get ready to follow the conductor; Joe Head sings with the beat; Mae with Come Drum for Fun leads the session; some residents enjoyed the show while others took part in it. From left, Billy Meadows, John Alexander,
John Bonnett, John Perry, Scott McCorkle and Larry Hale
.

Our Drum for Fun program encourages residents to develop rhythm, timing and tone differentiation. Plus, it's just downright fun! The Come Drum for Fun group led residents in a Drum for Fun activity on Saturday, July 25 in the chapel. As you can see, they got the beat!

Summer camp season has ended, having been in full swing since the first week of summer. More than 80 adults from ages 18 to 30 enjoyed a wide range of activities during their week-stay with us. It's never too early to plan for next year. For more information on Marbridge Summer Camp, contact Will Hoermann, our director of admissions.
