Our Activity Fund needs more activity!
|
The Activity Fund helps 20 to 25 residents with limited resources each month, and now it needs help. The fund allows these residents to enjoy many of the leisure activities available through Marbridge. Your contributions will enable them to participate in bowling, attend multiple sporting events, go on ice cream outings and movie nights, and much more. For more information on how you can help, contact Michelle Levy.

A Beautiful Day at Macy's

The Oak Leaves are among our longest-serving volunteer groups, and Ranch residents look forward to their monthly visits. In between visits, they send cards and letters to the residents. But once a year, the Oak Leaves do something really special for selected Ranch women-Beauty Day! They arrived promptly on August 11 as the Macy's store in Barton Creek Mall opened. Attentive employees gave them a full cosmetic treatment, along with advice on the best colors, methods and practices to achieve healthy skin and a beautiful appearance. After their makeover, each resident received a bag of cosmetic and fragrance gifts from Macy's and the Oak Leaves, followed by lunch at the popular Abuelo's restaurant. A beautiful day, indeed! Many thanks to our loyal Oak Leaves for creating such a special day for the Ranch women.

Did you say B-8?!!
Our Marbridge Parents & Families Association (MPFA) has become super popular and active around campus, sponsoring events like the bingo games held on August 27 in the Senior Dorm rec room. They provided prizes and refreshments to the complete delight of residents from both the Ranch and Village. Just two days later, the MPFA sponsored a cowboy singer who performed at the Villa and the chapel. Great job, MPFA!

San Diego trip

From left, back row: Seth Felder, David Fischer, Randy Cole, Scott Carlson, Jake Sidwa, Rick Pencenka, Max Clampitt, Billy McLemore, John Perry, Molly Moore. Front row, from left: Bob Segerson, Kristen Carswell, Alexa Alexander, Drew Gray, Craig Janzen and James Pollard.
Sixteen residents enjoyed a fun-filled vacation to San Diego the last week in August. They spent a day at Ocean Beach, followed by an all day tour of the San Diego Zoo.
"We dined at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse down on the harbor, and it was awesome," said Coach Shelley McGinnis, who, along with Coach Hughie Shaw and volunteers Sue Royal and Debbie Legg, accompanied residents on the trip.
The group also visited three different museums--the Air and Space Museum, the Automobile Museum, and the Sports Museum. They picnicked in Balboa Park, relaxed poolside back at the hotel and enjoyed another nice dinner on the harbor at Anthony's Seafood Restaurant. The final day included a tour of the Scripps Birch Aquarium and the La Jolla area. |
