It's going to be a record-breaking holiday season on Tybee Island...
Start the New Year off right by celebrating on Tybee... A beautiful fireworks show will light up the sky from the Tybee Pier at the stroke of midnight and many restaurants and night spots will offer live music.
On New Year's Day join in the Polar Bear Plunge. This annual event includes hundreds taking a plunge into the chilly Atlantic Ocean, some even wearing festive costumes. A lot of fun to watch even if you don't want to get wet!
This year make sure to officially register for the event. The cost is only $25.00 and you will receive an official Polar Bear Plunge T-Shirt along with a swim cap which will be used to try to break the Guiness Book of World Records for "Largest Gathering of People Wearing Swim Caps". The world record attempt will be held at 11:45am and the plunge at Noon. Make sure to arrive early to the Tybee Pier and be a part of this record setting event. Registrations can be purchased online and all proceeds go to a great cause... restoring the historic Tybee Post Theater.
