Low interest rates and the $8000 tax credit incentive for first time buyers are both bringing people back into the market.  $8000 Home Buyer Tax Credit |

The First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit is part of the President's Recovery Act passed in February. It's a great opportunity for people who are considering purchasing a new home. You may know someone who qualifies. Here are some of the basics:
- "First Time Buyer" is anyone who hasn't owned a home in the past 3 years.
- Must earn less than $75,000 (single) or $150,000 (married couple).
- Purchase must be made between 1/1/2009 and 12/1/2009.
- It is a tax credit, not a deduction. The homeowner will receive $8000 when they file their income taxes.
- An amended return can be filed so the credit will be received in 2009
- The $8000 does not need to be paid back unless the property is re-sold within the next 3 years.
