Please keep their families in prayer during this difficult time.

Special Thanks...
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you so much for all of your prayers during my stay at Barrows in Phoenix.  God is still in the healing business, and He does it completely.  Thank you,
Richard Armenta

Dear Friends at FCC,
Thank you so much for letting us host our event at your church.  You were gracious hosts, and our event was a success!  Thank you again for your support.

Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is he who keeps the law."
Our Elders have been in prayer over this matter for months, asking God to show them where they are to lead this body for whom they bear responsibility. Elders have prayed...Elders have waited...and God has spoken to them.  It's now our turn to hear.
Therefore, beginning April 10 and 11, you will hear a multi-part vision that is developed through three key words: KNOW, SHOW, and GROW.  Quite simply, God has communicated to our Elders that First Christian Church is to: Know God, to Show God, and to Grow in God.  What are those three words again?  KNOW, SHOW, and GROW!
God has great things in store for a church that has direction, that finds its foundation not on man's philosophies, but on the rock that is Jesus Christ. We all--Elders and Staff alike--are so excited to see what God is going to continue to do through a church and its people who embrace the godly call upon themselves.  See you this weekend!

Elders' Corner
People need vision.  Nations, companies, clubs, and most of all, churches need vision.  Proverbs 29:18 explains that we will not follow God as He intends without clear revelation from Him.  The elders at First Christian Church have sought God concerning His goal for our body of believers.  The Scriptures are clear.  There is nothing profound or new about what the church should be and should become.  We know that God has spoken through His Word.  With that in mind, we have outlined several areas we believe we need to demonstrate our faithfulness:

Know
 - Love God more deeply
 - Grow closer to God through prayer
Show
 - Unity in Christ
 - Evangelize the lost
Grow
 - Mature Disciples
 - Spirit directed

We have asked our preaching staff to elaborate on these goals over the next few months in order that we all might understand more fully where God wants to take us in the next five to ten years.  Our prayer: that we all follow the example of the Bereans and see if these things are indeed so (Acts 17:11).
We have had so many encouraging reports of God's work in our church family.  Thank you for the positive messages to continue our pursuit of God through His Word.  Please know we continue to pray, study the Word, and shepherd the flock to present a faithful, growing church to Christ at His appearing.
Faithfully pursuing Christ through His Word -
     Don Johnson for the elders

Thoughts from The Missions Minister's Desk
Laretta K. Shrader

1.  Greatest encouragement in March: I received word from Bill and Margy Hoff, our partners in Honduras, that they wanted to send a contribution to one of the members of the Kenya or Chile Team.  They had read about the teams in last month's Guidepost.

2.  The above was the greatest encouragement until this past weekend.  The Good Friday Service, the Sunrise Service and breakfast afterward, and the music and preaching at the regular services all added up to a wonderful celebration of the risen Christ.

3.  Best quote from reading material in March: Paul Brothwick in World Class Christians quotes from My Utmost for His Highest, "the basis of missionary appeals is the authority of Jesus Christ, not the needs of the heathen," and adds, "... emotions cannot sustain the mission ... Our global commitment emanates out of the heart of God."

4.  Most mind-boggling quote: "The last 15 years have changed our world forever," claims Tony Whittaker, coordinator of Internet Evangelism Day. "Digital media are transforming the way we communicate, behave, and even think. If Facebook was a country, it would have the fourth largest population in the world." Internet Evangelism Day is a strategic resource to help the worldwide Church understand these issues and use the Web to share the good news. It is both a year-round online guide and an annual focus day - to be held this year on Sunday, April 25. (Source: Internet Evangelism Day, Press Release, March 2010)

When the next Guidepost goes to press, JB and I will be on our way home from Sierra Leone.  We are going to visit and encourage the Courtney Family.  Here are some challenging statistics to know about Sierra Leone:

- 1 in 4 children die before the age of 5
 - Ranked the least developed nation on the U.N.
Human Development Index for '08, '09
 - 76% of the people live on less than $2 per day
 - Life expectancy in Sierra Leone is only 41 years
   (vs.78 in the U.S.)
 - Only 30% of the people have access to clean water

One in a Million

with video teacher Priscilla Shirer

Join Priscilla Shirer on an exploration of the Israelites' journey from Egypt to a land of deliverance. Of the
original two million who received God's invitation to
enter the Promised Land, only two actually entered it. Similarly, only a handful of modern-day Christians experience God and live the life of abundance that
He promises. Shirer encourages others to see the
goodness of God in their lives, live beyond their circumstances, and expect to see God move in
miraculous ways in their everyday existence.
Registration will continue on April 11 after each
service.  You will need a workbook.  Pick your
workbook up at Fish Tales.

Children's Ministry
Rick Keeling, Children's Minister
Les Gompert, Associate Children's Minister

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."       Matthew 19:14

The FCC Children's Ministry Team firmly believes the best place, by far, for children to learn of their Savior and grow in faith, is in the home with believing families.  That being said, Jesus established the church as a body and gave various gifts to be shared. Throughout the week, we offer a variety of times where children can come and fellowship, learn, and worship.

Wednesdays
Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm is our Faith Weaver Friends program, where kids learn in a fun way through crafts, stories, snacks, and games.  Come and check us out!  If you've always just come at one particular time, why not spread your wings a little and try something new this week?  There are numerous adult Bible classes offered at this time.

Saturdays
At 6:00 pm (during Twenty4/7), children ages 3 through (?), have an opportunity to worship and praise.  From
6:30-7:15 pm, they will have class time with a Bible lesson and crafts.

Sundays
Each Sunday at 9:30 am, pre-K through K have their worship in "Praise Time" with singing, worship, and Bible story time. Grades 1-5 are in Sunday School classes, then between services they switch.  The little guys go downstairs, and the elementary kids take over the Kid Zone Room.  During the 11:00 am service, the elementary kids have their praise and worship time, while the pre-K & Ks have their Sunday School classes.
