Can you believe it?  It's time for the Southwestern Christian School Spring Fundraiser Raffle, Dinner, Silent and Live Auction.  This year's event will be held on Friday, March 19th at the Yuma Civic and Convention Center.  As in the past, we will have door prize drawings, awesome raffle prizes, fantastic auction items and deals, and jumpers, slides, and treats for the kids.  This is a night the entire family can enjoy!  If you don't believe me, just ask one of our FCC elders who has attended in the past!  If you are interested in purchasing tickets for the raffle or delicious dinner by Las Palapas, please head to the FCC bookstore.  They will have tickets available for purchase.  Please spread the word of this awesome event to your friends and family!  All proceeds will go to SWCS and the SWCS PTO to help better the education and activities offered at Southwestern Christian School.
In addition, March 1st marks open registration for Southwestern Christian School.  If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling a student for the 2010/2011 school year, please download our application off the FCC website.  We are excited about what God has in store for our school in the upcoming school year!
In Christ,
Debbie Stewart, Principal

The RevolutionMark Your Calendars for the Revolution Community Outreach!
Many community outreach projects are scheduled throughout Yuma on March 20.  Our prayer is that through these projects we will be God's hands and feet to our neighbors.  We are planning projects at three different sites: Crossroads Mission, Rancho Viejo School, and Amberly's Place.  At Crossroads, we will be working in shifts from 4 am-6 pm to serve meals, organize, and clean.  We are also leading their chapel service that night at 7:30 pm.  At Rancho Viejo, we will be setting up a mini kids' carnival in the parking lot right on Avenue C. We will also be serving a free hotdog and chips lunch for the community.  This area has a lot of poverty, so our goal is to give the families a free, family-oriented day, and show them we love them.  We will also be doing prayer walks and community clean-up throughout the Rancho neighborhood prior to, and during the event.  At Amberly's Place, we will either be organizing or helping them with repairs.
We will know more about this project soon, so ask!  Questions?  Ask at the sign-up table before/
after services Saturday and Sunday.  Thank you
for your support!  If you haven't already, join the revolution!!!  -Community Outreach Team

The word 'tenebrae' is Latin for shadows.  The purpose of the Tenebrae service is to recreate the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of the events, and it is left unfinished, because the story isn't over until Easter Day.  Join us for this time of worship and reflection as we focus on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf.

Servant of the Month
Alan Dyson, Involvement Minister
The Servant of the Month for March is a pillar in the Children's Ministry.  Lynn Redondo is a faithful servant who understands that she works for the Lord and not for man. Lynn says that she has been richly blessed by those with whom she serves, and especially by the children that she serves.  Her favorite part of service is, "...the endless hugs, leg holds, and laughter that comes from both the children and adults.... What joy there is when a few years after these children have moved from the age group I work with, they are being baptized! The children are definitely not the only ones learning each time we get to be together."  How amazing it is for her to know that the Children's Ministry is forever changing the lives of the students (and adults) that are part of it.  Her service, and the service of others like her, is making an eternal impact for the Kingdom of God.  Lynn is quick to point out that she has gained a lot through service.  She has a hunger for the Word of God that was not there before.  It began when she was asked to teach in the Children's Ministry for the first time.  She says, "I felt so unqualified when I was asked to teach a Sunday School class to children, that I tried to refuse.  But, I was also told that there was no better way to start reading and understanding the Bible than to prepare for a lesson. Wow, the flood gates opened, and my thirst for the Word began."  Her faith and knowledge of God have grown through service so much that now when she faces times of struggle, she has peace
and joy and does not feel overwhelmed by them. This is definitely a wonderful testimony to the freedom that is found in a deep relationship with Christ. These blessings are not only flowing into the life of Lynn, but they are also being shared with the next generation.  Lynn's teenage son is following in her footsteps and is finding joy and fulfillment in his own areas of service-something that Lynn rejoices in.
Please take a moment to pray for Lynn and her continued service. Also pray for our Children's Ministry and the children whose lives are being molded by the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, and the servants whom God is using in this ministry.
If you would like more information about how you can serve in the Children's Ministry or any Ministry in the church, please contact Alan Dyson at 726-5616 to get started.

Second-Half Adult MinistriesSecond Half Ministries
Jerry Elzey, Pastoral Care Minister
God used many women in both the Old and New Testaments as vital pieces of the puzzle that would eventually reveal His purpose and fulfillment for all mankind.  Many of these women will be portrayed in a "Women of the Bible" Fashion Show at our Second-Half Potluck Brunch in the Church Cafe on March 27, from 10:00-11:30 am.  All of our models are members of our own congregation.  Join us for an enjoyable time of fellowship and food as we take a brief journey through history via these familiar Bible women.
And if you're living alone in your second half of life and need someone who understands, someone who can be an encouragement to you, join us at our 'Second-Half' TLC/Support Group, Wednesday evenings at 7:00, Room 144.

International Initiatives
Laretta K. Shrader, Missions Minister
In the three minutes it will take for you to read this, the following things will happen around the globe:
 - 1,294 souls will begin life
 - 574 souls will meet Jesus face -to-face, 180 of those will not know him as Lord and Savior
 - 570 baptisms will occur on mission fields around the world
 - 67 children will become homeless or family-less
 - 274 people will begin supporting themselves by collecting garbage
 - 40 Christians will die because of their faith in Jesus
 - 4 Africans will die of preventable, treatable disease, for lack of drugs we can buy at any drugstore
While the issues surrounding the evangelization of the world are complex, and the task before us seems monumental, we must take heart.  This is God's world.  Thankfully, it's also His mission.  We only need to cooperatively and strategically follow His lead, for when we obey and pray, God works.  The last command of Jesus is the first concern of the church, that of taking the gospel to every nation. Every person in the world deserves what we have, the abundant life Jesus gives.
We have several teams going on STM trips this year, but I would like to talk to you about the Kenya  and the Chile Trips in June.  The Kenya Team will be helping with a camp type VBS for over 400 AIDS orphans.  The Chile Team will be helping with a new church plant in Los Angeles, and working on the existing church building in Lautaro.  At this point it could very well be repairing earthquake damage.
There are 5 people on the Kenya Team and 12 on the Chile one, and they need your help.  We hope the entire church will be involved as either senders or goers.  We have our goers, now they need senders.
Each of these 17 people is required to ask a group within the church to be their sender/support group.  This group will pray for them, receive updates from them, and help them financially.  If a member of your small group, Bible class, or ministry co-worker asks you to be in their support group, or asks you to sacrifice going to the movies, out to eat on Sunday, or Starbucks for a few months, please say yes.  You may also receive letters asking for support. These letters will all be mailed on March 8, so you can decide how much you want to give and divide it up.
Most of these sixteen people are using vacation time and $500 to $600 of their personal funds to make these trips.  Won't you help?
Because He Lives,

Children's Ministry
Rick Keeling, Children's Minister
Les Gompert, Associate Children's Minister

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."       Matthew 19:14

The FCC Children's Ministry Team firmly believes the best place, by far, for children to learn of their Savior and grow in faith, is in the home with believing families.  That being said, Jesus established the church as a body and gave various gifts to be shared. Throughout the week, we offer a variety of times where children can come and fellowship, learn, and worship.

Wednesdays
Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm is our Faith Weaver Friends program, where kids learn in a fun way through crafts, stories, snacks, and games.  Come and check us out!  If you've always just come at one particular time, why not spread your wings a little and try something new this week?  There are numerous adult Bible classes or worship times that correspond with all of our times.

Saturdays

At 6:00 pm (during Twenty4/7), children ages 3 through (?) have an opportunity to worship and praise.  From 6:30-7:15 pm, they will have class time with a Bible lesson and crafts.

Sundays

Each Sunday at 9:30 am, pre-K through K have their worship in "Praise Time" with singing, worship, and Bible story time. Grades 1-5 are in Sunday School classes, then between services they switch.  The little guys go downstairs, and the elementary kids take over the Kid Zone Room.  During the 11:00 service, the elementary kids have their praise and worship time, while the pre-K & Ks have their Sunday School classes.
