Illegal hires on jobsites. Workers' comp. Independent contractors v. employees. Together they're a volatile combination. Perhaps a new Pennsylvania law will clear things up... and cool things off.

Tonight 7:00 p.m. on the Philadelphia CNN-News affiliate  WFMZ-TV, The American Law Journal "Workers' Comp: Employee? Independent Contractor? Be Careful What You Wish For" with claimants' attorneys George Badey of Badey Sloan & DiGenova and respondents' counsel Matthew Wynn of Wynn McGarry. The Hon. Joseph Hakun brings the judicial perspective to the discussion.

A viral video clip shows Pennsylvania State Rep. Jack Galloway-- a proponent of the newly passed Construction Workplace Misclassification Act--  contesting a foreman as to the presence of illegal workers at a job site.

The program examines how the new law changes the injury game depending on classification. It also addresses the Pennsylvania Guaranty Fund for uninsured workers and new Judge's Rules on bifurcation that involves independent contractor issues.

Hakun Badey Double Box"This law is a lot stricter, a lot clearer and a lot more exacting." says Badey. "And if there's no written contract between the corporation and the independent contractor, they can't get away with this. There are teeth in it. There are criminal penalties."

The American Law Journal airs Mondays at 7PM on the Philadelphia CNN-News affiliate WFMZ-TV 69 to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. View programs, schedules, cable and satellite channel positions, lawyer profiles and more on the program's new website, www.LawJournalTV.com.
