The ADA . . . is Everything Old New Again? |
Is the New Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act... déjà vu all over again? Tonight at 7:00 p.m. on WFMZ-TV 69, The American Law Journal addresses " The New ADA- Is Everything Old New Again?" Attorney Host Christopher Naughton welcomes plaintiff's attorney George Kounoupis of Hahalis & Kounoupis and defense counsel Anthony Haller of Blank Rome. Joining the panel is Jamie Ray-Leonetti from Pennington & Ray and the Pennsylvania Client Assistance Program. The panel examines the new law that went into effect at the start of 2009 and how it is impacting employers, employees and lawyers. "This law is an attempt to get at the core of what the original law was intended to do- to give people with disabilities a meaningful opportunity at the workplace," says Kounoupis. "The courts issued a number of decisions that had narrowed the spirit of the act. Hopefully, this will sent things straight. Frankly, congress had to step in if the ADA were to remain at all viable." The American Law Journal broadcasts every Monday night at 7:00 p.m. on WFMZ-TV 69 in the Philadelphia tri-state area. While the program's website is under renovation, download links are available by e-mailing info@lawjournaltv.com.
