On The American Law Journal:

Aging baby boomers. Low budgets. Administration cutbacks. Retirement of qualified personnel. A bad economy. In the world of social security disability benefits, it all adds up to "the perfect storm." This Sunday, September 28 at 6:30PM on CN8, The Comcast Network, The American Law Journal examines "Social Security Disability-The Perfect Storm." with host Christopher Naughton and claimant's attorneys Alan Polonsky of Polonsky & Polonsky and Jess Leventhal of Leventhal Sutton & Gornstein. The Hon. Roger Schwartz brings judicial perspective to a conversation that addresses why a multiplicity of factors--some outside the control of the Social Security Administration--is ushering in an administrative crisis. "It's doubling the caseload," says Polonsky of the confluence of events. "People are reaching the age where they are more likely to be disabled. The baby boom generation is in its fifties and sixties now . . . and they are getting to the point where they have problems, they're not about to work anymore and they are filing for benefits. Plus many [longtime] employees of the SSA are reaching retirement age. So you have less experienced staff dealing with a larger caseload and an economy that pushes more cases into the system. It's difficult."
