California Green Transportation Collaborative - Spring 2012 Update

The California Green Transportation Collaborative made impressive gains in curriculum development and industry alliance building under a two-year California Labor and Workforce Development grant. Skyline College, with community college partners Contra Costa College (CCC) and Long Beach City College (LBCC), spearheaded Collaborative activities. Career Ladders Project (CLP) provided strategic and direct assistance to support Collaborative goals and accelerate innovation with community colleges statewide, while ASCCA provided the Collaborative vital support, leadership and guidance.

BAR's New STAR Program Implementation Phase Beginning

Beginning 2013, stations that meet the STAR performance standards will be eligible for the legislatively created privilege of inspecting vehicles that are likely high smog emitters.

For nearly two years, BAR has been working with the Smog Check industry to establish the STAR program, conducting 22 workshops throughout the state. As requested by the industry, the program kicked off late last year to give station owners and inspectors sufficient time to correct any inspection practices that were not in accordance with Smog Check laws and regulations. Since the original posting of STAR results in December 2011, BAR has worked with the industry to improve the quality of inspections performed in California.

Bar has developed Q & A's to help the industry better understand STAR, in addition to creating a training program, set up a Help Desk and refined their STAR website.

The attached flyers were designed by the membership committee as marketing material to be used to introduce and provide information to Chapter Leadership about the One Member Can! program.

The One Member Can! informative, 2-page flyer is designed to be printed double-sided on 8 " x 11" sheets of paper, while the one page poster is designed to be a tabletop piece, printed on glossy 8" x 10" stock paper - to be place next to the 2-page flyers. There is also a 16" x 20" poster available. If you would like to display a poster of that size, please contact us directly and the template will be forwarded separately.

Please take a moment to read through the marketing material thoroughly. The more you know about our One Member Can! campaign - the better you'll be at using it to engage and enlist new members! The material also contains instructions on how to report your new member sign-ups, and how you can win a new iPad.
