2008-2009 Discovery School PTA Scrapbook Items Needed

The 2008-09 school year is starting to wind down and it is time to preserve these memories.  The PTA is working on assembling a scrapbook to put on display at the Discovery School at Reeves Rogers.

This project cannot be completed without the help of YOUR pictures.

We really want to include all aspects of the school year and each of you will be able to showcase those moments as you were there taking pictures.  Any events that involve Discovery School students are important.  We will be working with digital format of pictures.

What we need are CDs of the pictures.  Please have the folders within the CD of the events clearly marked with the date, name of the event, grade and teacher if possible.  The more information that you supply the more accurate we can be in reporting the events.  If you are copying the images from you computer please be sure to have them in a .jpeg, .gif or .tif file.   Try not to resize them into a smaller file as this may distort the images when we upload them to the publisher.

Please place your name and phone number on the CD so if we have any questions we might be able to contact you easier.  Once we have finished with the images we will return the CDs if you let us know you want them back.

Please feel free to contact either of us directly if you have any questions.  Leigh Anne Brown (615-895-0832) or Kelley Morton (615-890-2924).  We really appreciate all of you help with this project and look forward to gathering all of you pictures and working with them.
Care Calendar for Discovery School Tornado Relief

There has been an overwhelming response of Discovery School families willing to help those that lost so much during the tornadoes a few weeks ago and in true southern tradition many of you have indicated a desire to cook meals for these families. At this time care calendars have been set up for the Bryant and Clark families to help them over the coming weeks. These calendars are a great tool for organizing people that are willing to help with less work for all of us. It is really easy to use, be sure to add what you plan to prepare so they do not get meatloaf 3 days in a row. Also, remember that their supplies are very limited, do not assume that they have condiments, salt, pepper, butter, basically anything. They are eating off of disposable plates and still eating out mostly, so these meals will be a treat for both families.
Emails will be sent with the access codes to the CareCalendar sites to people that returned a form expressing an interest in helping.  If you would like to be added to this list, have any questions, or know of other Discovery School families that are in need of meals at this time, let me know and I can set that up too.
Thanks, Gwen Dyer [email protected]

Your PTA wants you!

Did you know that your PTA has more than 40 committees, sub-committees and task groups that are helping to enrich your child's educational experience at the Discovery School? We need your help to continue this work in the 2009-2010 school year. We welcome men and women. We have tasks that can be done at night or on the weekend, and others that coincide with the school day. We need computer pros, writers, environmentalists, organizers, cooks, scrapbookers, gardeners, planners, fundraisers, executives...no matter what your interest or experience, we've got a job for you. Volunteers are now being recruited for the next school year. Tell us how you want to contribute by contacting the PTA with your areas of interest at [email protected].
