Greetings!
May is a high anxiety month for both parents and children. Whether you have a first grader or a high schooler, the influx of report cards, SOLs, SATs, and finals can be overwhelming (not to mention Field Day and Teacher Appreciation Week!). This month we are featuring a blog article on anxiety, and review an entertaining calculus book for sufferers of math anxiety.

- Dr. Perrino will receive the Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation's Outstanding Service to the College Award for 2012! This prestigious award goes to just one adjunct professor in the entire NVCC system. Congratulations!
- Dr. and Mrs. Perrino spoke at several area PTSA meetings this spring on the topic "What You Need to Know to Succeed in School." Contact us if your PTSA would like to schedule this free presentation for the coming school year.
- Dr. Perrino published three articles this school year: "The Socialization Process and Its Impact on Children and Learning", "Community College: An Option Not to Be Ignored in College Planning" and "Understanding the Differences: SAT vs. ACT". These articles were published through several online publications, and can also be found on our Articles page.
- Dr. Perrino was a speaker at the 7th Annual Special Education Conference, sponsored by the Fairfax County Public Schools Parent Resource Center at Lake Braddock High School in March.
- This spring we added Jeanne Piceno to our office staff. Jeanne brings expertise in office administration and parenthood to the NVTS team and we are excited to have her on board. Now Jeanne, Denise and Deb have Dr. Perrino badly outnumbered!
