'Critical Condition'
Metro Detroit Native's film on the uninsured airs on PBS Bill Moyers Journal
 
Filmmaker Roger Weisberg, who was raised in the metro Detroit area, puts a human face on the 47 million uninsured in America in his documentary "Critical Condition."  The film will air as part of PBS's "Bill Moyers' Journal" in a special Detroit telecast Sunday, Oct. 4, at 12:30 p.m. on Detroit Public Television, Channel 56.  The film follows families fighting illness without health coverage.

Weisberg, who attended Birmingham Groves High School and whose parents still live in Bloomfield Hills,founded his production company, Public Policy Productions, in 1982. After four years as a staff producer for Thirteen/WNET, the New York public television station, Weisberg launched this independent production company to extend the reach and impact of his documentary productions.

Since he founded Public Policy Productions, Roger Weisberg has produced, directed, and/or written 29 documentaries on subjects ranging from health care, aging, and the environment to defense policy, child welfare, adolescent sexuality, and criminal justice.
Weisberg's documentaries have won over one hundred awards.    
 
PBS broadcasts special report on health care reform tonight   
 
PBS/Channel 56 will feature a 90-minute update on health care reform tonight, 9-10:30 p.m., featuring Tavis Smiley and the staff of Nightly Business Report. The program will include late-breaking news and analysis on the health care debate and feature cultural, politcal, and economic insight.
