PromoStreet parking on University under LRT - continuedtion Name |
Last month, we announced a meeting in this newsletter about the dramatic reduction in street parking under light rail transit (LRT). That meeting was held at the Rondo Community Outreach Library on July 28 with more than 80 attendees coming to learn more and express their concerns.
As a result of that meeting, the Greater Frogtown Board of Directors approved four recommendations (148K .pdf document) to the Metropolitan Council and the City of Saint Paul. We are urging anyone concerned about these issues to submit comments to the Metropolitan Council before the close of their public comment period on August 25.

The event is Saturday, August 23 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the West Minnehaha Rec Center, just west of Dale Street at 685 W. Minnehaha. Great community giveaways, great food, and great fun. Benefit luncheon for Greater Frogtown
Greater Frogtown is proud to announce a benefit luncheon in September. This will be a great opportunity for our community to learn more about the importance of investing in our neighborhoods, and most especially, our children. Art Rolnick, senior vice-president and director or research for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, will be the keynote speaker discussing how early investment in kids and neighborhoods pays back many times over.
The event will be September 25, at the Travelers main building on Washington and 6th Street in Saint Paul, from 11:30 to 1:30 PM. Sponsorships are available (contact Steve Boland at 651-789-7486) and individual tickets will be available soon. Special thanks to Travelers for making this all possible. Please save the date!

Record home improvement activity in Frogtown
Our Frogtown Facelift and other home improvement programs have been great assets to the neighborhood in the past, but this year we are breaking all records for numbers of homes served and investments being made by neighbors in improving their properties. The Invest Saint Paul program has targeted resources in our neighborhood, and made it even easier for home-owners to get help maintaining their property.
As a result of these new efforts, we are on track to invest one million dollars in homes in our neighborhood this year. We are preparing to request more home-owner assistance dollars, and hope to provide even more help soon. Thanks to all of our neighbors and supporters for helping us achieve this record level of work in our area.
