Eating Smart While You Travel
Traveling by plane:
1. Nowadays it isn't too difficult to find a healthy salad with grilled chicken, steak or turkey at one of the sit down restaurants or even the smaller grab-n-go kiosks.
2. Once you board the plane, steer clear of the airlines offerings. Not only are the options expensive, they are usually calorie dense and loaded with hydrogenated fats and too many unhealthy carbohydrates. Instead, bring along a couple of high quality protein bars like those from the Nutritional Direction dispensary.
3. Staying hydrated at 30,000 feet is not easy. The general rule of thumb to keep hydrated - drink eight ounces of water for every half hour of plane travel. Don't depend on the airlines to have botttled water. Purchase your own and bring it on-board. Do not drink sodas, coffee, tea, or processed juices as these will dehydrate.
Traveling by car with the family:
4. Pack an ice cooler full of healthy snacks such as crisp celery and carrot sticks, organic mozzarella cheese sticks, a jar of peanut butter, apples, grapes, bananas, a trail mix assortment of nuts, seeds, dried fruit and organic chocolate chips, gluten-free pretzels, and protein bars. Don't forget to bring some small paper cups to pass around the snacks. Wash it all down with bottled water from your cooler.
5. Use your GPS, "Siri", or the internet to find restaurants and menus along your route. Choose grilled meat, fish or chicken, plenty of veggies and salad (dressing on the side), and rice. It is ok to give in to your favorite indulgences every now and then - after all, it is vacation!
Keeping Healthy Upon Arrival:
Traveling always increases the chance of infection and it is quite easy to pick up food borne pathogens such as H. pylori, E. coli, salmonella and others regardless of where or what you eat.
6. It is a good idea to take enzymes with hydrochloric acid (Hcl) at each meal to help the stomach kill off any unwanted pathogens. Also, activated charcoal capsules or Silvercillin will help reverse the symptoms of 'Montezuma's' revenge.
7. Travel related constipation is not uncommon. Magnesium by itself or with mega doses of vitamin C will almost always relieve this issue.

"I will stand on my guard post and station myself on the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me..." Habakkuk 2:1
I have always loved this scripture verse. It reminds me to wait on Him, as I have a tendancy to run ahead.
