Greetings from Dr. Sharon Price, PhD., CN.

What does chronic inflammation have to do with disease?

Your body's natural physiological response to continual stressors creates hormonal and other chemical imbalances within your body - the homeostasis is immediately upset.  In such a state the body requires increased amounts of magnesium, zinc, vitamin C, B vitamins and other buffering nutrients to calm an over-acid state.  A continual shortage of these nutrients only exacerbates the inflammatory process, commonly creating immune system miscommunication known as autoimmune disease.

Stealth or undetected inflammation creates a lot of free radical damage, too, contributing the premature aging.  Compounded with bad dietary choices, nutrient deficiencies, "bad bugs", and toxic metals and chemicals the disease process begins to build.  The disease process starts at the cellular level - long before symptoms are experienced - and then progresses to more serious states of imbalance such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cancers and autoimmune diseases such as IBD (colitis, Crohn's and others), osteo- and rheumatoid- arthritis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, sjogrens, scleroderma, MS, etc.

Bad dietary choices which contribute to inflammation:

  • Fried foods and fast foods
  • Foods high in trans fat & hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fat  (to increase shelf life)
  • Packaged and processed foods - soups like Ramen (preservatives, additives, colorings)
  • Diets high in grain products such as wheat, corn, soy
  • Diets high in sugars, products containing sugar and other chemical sweeteners
  • Diets high in dairy products
  • Diets high in pork and red meat

These foods not only create nutrient deficiencies, but create a toxic burden on the body and begin the disease process at the cellular level... long before we ever experience symptoms.

Foods missing from the diet that create health and can even reverse disease:

  • Whole, clean live foods - an abundance of fruits and veggies
  • High quality fats such as Omega 3, olive and other oils, seeds, nuts, avocados
  • Natural herbs and spices

These foods are more alkaline and are loaded with enzymes to cool off an over-aggressive immune system.  High quality lower acid animal protein such as fish, turkey, and chicken can also be beneficial.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."

In that I take total comfort!

If you don't know Jesus as LORD of the here and now and the hereafter, please ask me.
