Answers to your health and nutrition questions:
Q. I would always appreciate things to help Diabetics...
Nutritional Pointers for Diabetes
- No sugar, including brown sugar, raw sugar, etc., and foods containing sugar
- No white flour or foods containing white flour such as muffins, bagels, breads, pancakes, cakes, cookies, pies, etc.
- No carbonated beverages including "diet"
- No fried food or junk food. You may fry at home with oils or butter at low heat
- No chemical sweeteners such as Splenda, NutraSweet, Equal, aspartame, SweetnLow, etc. Xylitol, maltitol, erythritol, stevia and Truvia are acceptable
- No fruit juice of any kind
Other Suggestions:
- Do not eat fruit by itself; always combine it with a fat and a protein. Example: Granny Smith apple with 2 tsp. nut butter (this would be considered a small meal).
- Plan to eat a small meal every 3 hours - this helps to keep blood sugar somewhat regulated and increases metabolism. Example: Whey Cool or PaleoMeal protein shake using purified water, ½ banana, 2 teaspoons PaleoFiber and 1 teaspoon peanut butter
- Plan to get 35-40 grams of fiber per day. Fiber helps to slow down stomach emptying. Foods high in fiber: berries, spinach, other veggies, beans, oatmeal and supplemental fiber.
- Water is critical to carry nutrition throughout the body, and to dilute toxic waste facilitating exit from the body. The solution to pollution is dilution! Drink one-half your body weight in ounces. Example: if your weigh 150 pounds, drink a minimum of 75 ounces of purified water daily, plus another 8 ounces for every 30 minutes that you exercise.
- Physical activity burns circulating blood sugar and promotes a more rapid absorption of glucose into the muscles. This reduces the need for insulin and increases metabolism. I recommend 2 exercise segments per day, morning and afternoon, as little as 15 minutes per segment either cardio or weight bearing or a combination of both. Exercise on an empty stomach if you don't feel faint during the exercise segment. The body will more readily burn stored fat.

"Then God said, 'Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.'"

Verse 29, inspired by God. Wouldn't you agree He had healthy eating in mind?
