Oppose the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 Bill
This tip is a little out of the ordinary for me, but I feel that it is critical that we respond to this latest bill introduced by Senator John McCain.
According to the Life Extension foundation, the name of the bill misleads the public about its true nature. "Despite nutritional suplements' safety record, McCain's bill would give the FDA authority to draw up a list of allowed and disallowed supplements (and supplement potencies). This bill would cause any dietary supplement to be classified as 'adulterated' if it is 'manufactured, packaged, held, distributed, labeled or licensed by a dietary supplement company not registered with the Secretary'. The 'Secretary' in this case is the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the department of the federal government that oversees the FDA."
Please alert your two Senators and Representatives about this oppressive legislation by doing the following.

My letter was simple and read: "I am vigorously opposed to Senator John McCain's bill called the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 (DSSA) which will drive up the cost of dietary supplements and restrict my access to them. I have owned a small business for the last sixteen years. The passage of such a bill would, without question, shut down my business, giving more power to the government as well as drug companies. This legislation is appalling and I'm asking you to do whatever is necessary to see that this oppressive legislation die an immediate death!"
