The Feather's Edge Finery
We're excited to now be carrying some of our products in The Feather's Edge Finery! If you haven't checked this store out, we highly recommend stopping in and saying hi. The owner, Steph Spencer, is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about what she has in her shop.
According to their website "The Feather's Edge Finery is a store that appreciates handmade goods" most of which are local. They carry stunning jewelry, hip and original hats, organic baby clothes, some one of a kind coffee mugs, and gorgeous glass work to name just a few of the beautiful goods. Herb of the Month~ Wild Rose 
Botanical Name: Rosa spp.
Energetics: Cool, drying
Taste: Sweet, astringent, sour
Distribution: From Alaska down to California and eastward. In forests and canyons, logged lands and thickets, along rivers - roses are tough and plentiful!
Parts Used: Petals, buds, hips (fruit), seeds, and leaves
Here in the High Desert of Central Oregon, the roses are a close companion of the rivers. It's quite common to see them as you walk along the Deschutes or Metolius rivers. You'll usually hear a handful of bees buzzing about as well. The smell is better than any rose you've smelled in the store. It's very similar, but much more earthy, in a delicate way. You'll recognize it right away by its leaves. They look like your common Valentine's Day rose leaves, alternate and serrated. The bonus about these leaves compared to the weak hybrid store roses is the smell. They have a sweet and delightfully musky smell. A wild rose has five petals, usually different shades of pink.
The medicinal value, both internally and externally seems almost limitless. The hips and petals are loaded with vitamins. The whole plant is jam packed with antioxidants and is incredibly anti-inflammatory. The rose can help with everything from fatigue and anxiety to dry skin and hair. The nutrition rich wild rose is a beautiful smelling medicine. It's widely used in plenty of skincare products (including ours), great taken as medicine internally, and delicious when eaten. |

Rose is very calming and balancing, both for our emotions and our skin. It assists us in finding a ground level state in which we can access our real emotions rather than just reacting in a negative way. It can help to soothe, cool, and calm sunburned skin. It can be moisturizing and firming to the skin.
