Our Patients Say it Best.

"I was having trouble with digestion. The remedies that usually worked for me . . . weren't working - even humor! I mentioned it to Dr. Saetre.  She did her magic on my hiatal hernia, which I didn't realize was there, and I immediately felt relief."

         Linda Hutchinson, ha!

"With all of the shoveling this winter, my back and neck have been strained.  With regular chiropractic adjustments and massage at StillPointe, the discomfort has been relieved and I'm ready for the next snowfall."

"Chiropractic and CranioSacral Therapy have made a huge difference in my life.  I had migraines regularly that affected my day-to-day activities.  Now, I'm virtually pain free."

"I have a hectic lifestyle and battle high blood pressure.  I find that regular massage therapy sessions keep me healthy and happy."

From the StillPointe Staff July 4, 2012

Dear Patients and Friends:

Happy summer, Happy July 4th!

Summer is just fun, isn't it?  Being outside, playing at the lake or river, golfing, family picnics and camping.  In Minnesota, we really pack in a lot in a couple of months.  Just remember to take care of your health during the summer.  It is a good time to bring the kids in for a spinal checkup - don't wait for an injury.  We want to make sure they are growing up with healthy spines, posture and nutritional support.  See the article on Chiropractic for kids below.

Speaking of nutritional support, we have been working really hard on our new health website - www.prohealthspot.com.  If you haven't visited it yet, please do so and use the code: 10off to receive 10% off your first order. Developing this site has been a real learning experience for me and my son Tim, who is helping me.  We have designers, SEO guys (search engine optimization), and support in writing!  We have also added a blog, Facebook page, YouTube videos and Mail Chimp for a newsletter.  The blog is called "Ask Dr. Susan" and we highlight health issues, how to work with them and answer questions. Please join our FB page and send people to the site. We promise GREAT customer service and appreciate your support and feedback for how we can improve.  Our tagline is "Prescribe YOUR Health."

As always, we are grateful to you for choosing StillPointe for your health services. Referrals are so important, so please send your family and friends to us and we will take great care of them!

Yours in health,

Dr. Susan Saetre and the StillPointe Team

"Rethink Your Drink."

The Zhi4 Coffee is really a hit.  How great to have a rich, organic Arabica coffee blended with 4 superfood mushrooms.  Who would think it would taste so great and be preferred to the expensive coffee shop brands?  The testimonials are saying that the coffee is so smooth and rich, and that it doesn't give you the acid, jitters or the "crash" that other coffee does.  I find it keeps me mellow all day.  In the morning, I use about half the packet for a nice hot coffee.  And in the afternoon, I use the rest, adding ice and a bit of cream, milk or almond milk for a delicious iced coffee.  I am also spending WAY less, as the member price is less than $1.00.  Plus I don't go to the coffee shop 4-6 times a week like I used to.  We haven't used the Keriug, or the coffee maker in our family since this came out!  My husband puts it in his vanilla protein drink for a coffee flavor as well.

In July, we will sell individual packets at cost ($.96 plus tax) so you can try it.  It will be featured soon on www.prohealthspot.com, but in the meantime you can go to www.myalphay.com/drsusan and purchase a box of 30 as a customer or a member.  The member deal is better.  For $35 a year (kind of like Sam's Club), you can buy products at cost for a 25% savings.  You can even get yours free.  Simply become a member, join the monthly "convenience/autoship" plan for $50 (2 boxes of coffee), and refer your family and friends.  For anything they purchase, the company will give you a nice check, so it won't take long to get your own coffee/tea free and maybe make a little extra income. Not a bad deal. Sam's Club doesn't do that!

Questions?  Feel free to email me at 5elements.drsusan@gmail.com, and I can help you with this process.

Essential Oils on Sale.

We are still offering a 10% discount on the Young Living essential oils we have in stock at StillPointe.  In addition, if you purchase a YL product for $25 or more, we will give you a sample bottle as well.  It is a great way to try another oil to see if you like it.  Supplies are limited, so stop in soon.

We have been working hard on this new health site.  Check it out and join our facebook page.  We will be doing frequent blogs, videos and health dialog with our feature of "Ask Dr. Susan."  Please share this site with your friends and family as they can order conveniently from their homes or anywhere in the country!

ARTICLES FOR YOUR HEALTH.

"Is your Diet Soda Ruining Your Health?  .

Are you a diet soda, Crystal Light or diet food user?  Do you think that they will help you lose weight and be healthier that sugar?? Think again.

Diet drink consumption has increased 400 percent since 1960.  It may or may not cause cancer, but the evidence is mounting that it leads to weight gain rather than weight loss.  Those who consume diet drinks regularly have a 200 percent increased risk of weight gain, a 36 percent increased risk of pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome, and a 67 percent increased risk of diabetes.  A study of 400 people found that those who drank two or more diet sodas a day increased their waist size by five times.

Seems you can't outsmart Mother Nature. Tricking your brain into thinking you are getting something sweet plays dirty tricks on your metabolism.  Artificial sweeteners disrupt the normal hormonal and neurological signals that control hunger and satiety (feeling full).  A study of rats that were fed artificially-sweetened food found that their metabolism slowed down and they were triggered to consume more calories and gain more weight than rats fed sugar-sweetened food.

Check out my "Rant against Aspartame" blog at www.prohealthspot.com for more info on this nasty chemical, and if you are using it, please quit. There are great alternatives that are much healthier for you.

Summer Sports are here . . .

and Kids are on the Move!

Summer sports are here!  What a great way to help kids stay active during the summer months.  Activity is very important, but on occasion can lead to injury.  Our job is to help your kids treat and prevent these injuries. Whether your child is feeling back pain or neck pain, took a good fall at soccer, or has a sore elbow or shoulder from throwing, we can help. Chiropractic care does its job by helping to restore proper joint and muscle function. When the body can work properly, pain is relieved and further injury can be avoided.

Now let's talk about a couple of misconceptions.  Many people think that because kids are so resilient, that they don't need chiropractic care for their injuries. It's true that kids get better much quicker than adults and it is great that they don't need as much care, but they still need care.  Avoiding care can only further aggravate the injury. Another misconception is that aches and pains are normal for kids.  Muscle soreness from increased activity is the only type of "normal" pain kids should feel.  Here's how you can tell if it is just muscle soreness or if they have an injury.  Muscle soreness is achy in nature, usually starting several hours after the game and goes away within one to two days.  If the pain is sharp, more immediate, or if it lingers longer than a couple of days, it might be an injury.  If it hurts every time they throw the ball, it's not going to go away on its own.  Don't delay in getting the potential injury examined.

That being said, I hope your child never experiences an injury.  But if pain has sidelined your child, bring them in to see us.  We also like to check your children for scoliosis and pelvic imbalance.  Just as you take your children to the dentist or eye doctor for prevention, it is also important to have their spines checked.  If you have questions, give us a call and we will be happy to do a free spine check and show you and your child how to keep young spines strong. We can help them stay or get back in the game!
