| From the StillPointe Staff | March 7, 2011 |

Dear Patients and Friends:
WOW, March already. There are three things that I absolutely love about March: Daylight Savings Time starts again on the 13th, the Mississippi River ice goes out by my house, and it is our annual "Luck of the Irish" referral event at StillPointe! This is a great time to introduce family and friends to chiropractic and our StillPointe services. We want your kids, family and friends to have the same great results you have had, so bring them in for a FREE exam and you will be entered in a drawing to WIN a fun basket of prizes. This is a super "no risk" opportunity for people to try chiropractic and to also get your kids checked for spine issues and scoliosis.
We are also looking forward to our "Foam Roller Exercise" class on the 16th through Sartell/St. Stephen Community Ed. There are still a couple of slots available, so contact them directly if you would like to register. Details are noted in the column to the left, along with a link for online registration.
Please note that our clinic hours have changed. We will be closed on Tuesdays and will have extended evening hours on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We want to make sure to have convenient times available for you, so please let us know when you need to get in. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule. We truly appreciate the opportunity to serve you and your family, and want your experience at StillPointe to be exceptional. Have a great March!
Yours in Health,
Dr. Susan Saetre and the StillPointe Staff Dr. Jen Bestick, Chiropractor

Spring is Almost Here . . .
and so are Allergies and Sinus Problems!
Even though we still have snow on the ground, I have already noticed my own seasonal allergies are starting. And I have noticed the same in several patients this week. I'm seeing symptoms of allergies and sinus problems, including itchy eyes, nose or throat; sneezing; runny nose; tearing; nasal congestion; and headaches, especially in the frontal area.
Allergies are a hypersensitive (overactive) immune system responding to normal antigens in the environment. As trees and grasses bloom, along with changes in the weather, the immune system mistakes pollens and other substances for allergens, causing the allergic reaction.
At StillPointe, we offer several ways to treat this problem:
Chiropractic Adjustments work with the immune system by releasing pressure and interference with the nerves that affect the head and neck. This in turn, allows the immune system to work like it should to deal with allergens without causing an immune reaction.
Nutritional Supplements and Homeopathics allow the cells to deal with antigens and heal from within, as opposed to taking an antihistamine that suppresses the immune system. We have several excellent products, such as Sinuplex, D-Hist, Sinuchron and others that work amazingly well with these conditions.
Acupuncture is very effective for treating both the cause and symptoms of sinus and allergies. In an Australian study, patients who received acupuncture twice a week for eight weeks reported that their symptoms improved by more than one-third and they used significantly less medication than those in a control group. (Good Housekeeping, April 08)
Massage and CranioSacral Therapy, along with essential oils, also are very effective in relieving sinus pressure, opening nasal passages and creating drainage of sinus cavities.
At StillPointe, we will do a thorough evaluation and recommend a treatment program to meet your individual needs. Feel free to set up a complimentary consultation if you want to discuss allergies (or any other health issues you think we may be able to help with) so we can get you ready to enjoy our spring season! |

JuvaFlex Essential Oil.
Each month, we are selecting essential oils to feature, providing information on how specific oils can be used and the benefits. Plus we will have sample size bottles available for purchase. This will provide you with a way to try the different oils at a reasonable price, just $5.00, and to see how they work for you. Full-size bottles are also available.
This month, we are featuring: JuvaFlex, a combination of oils that have been studied for their supportive effects on the liver and the digestive and lymphatic systems. It may also support healthy cell function and helps break addictions to coffee, alcohol, drugs and tobacco. It can be applied over the liver area, foot Vita Flex points and raindrop-style along the spine. Some of the oils in JuvaFlex include:
- Geranium: improves bile flow from the liver.
- Rosemary: balances the endocrine system, is antiseptic and antimicrobial.
- Fennel: is antiseptic and stimulating to the circulatory system.
- Helichrysum: stimulates liver cell function and removes plaque from the veins and arteries.
This oil blend can be irritating to sensitive skin. A good practice when trying a new oil is to dilute it and try it in a small area first. More detailed information on this oil and how to use it will be provided at the time of purchase. And think about booking that aromatherapy massage! |
