Dear Patients and Friends:
Wow, March already. We have LOTS going on at StillPointe this month, including a "Luck of the Irish" referral event that will be lots of fun. This is a great time to introduce family and friends to chiropractic and StillPointe services. We want your kids, family and friends to have the same great results you have, so bring them in for a FREE exam and enter to WIN a fun basket of prizes. Also, look for our ad and specials on Massage and EDS in the St. Cloud Times on March 12th. Join us on March 25th for our "Gluten-Free 101" class. We have found that many people have an allergy or intolerance to wheat and gluten. SarahErin, our Wellness Coach, will show you how to cook, shop and eat out with gluten intolerance. Feel free to bring a friend. We are in the process of upgrading both our website and our computer management and billing system. While this involves a bit of training and new ways of doing things, we think it will greatly increase our efficiency, billing and customer service. Please bear with us as we make these changes to serve you better. If you have any questions, please always feel free to call us. The new website will have a "members" section that will provide great information on your health questions and concerns. You will receive details when the site is ready to go!
We have added a fan page on Facebook for StillPointe. Click on the link in the left-hand column and join. We add to it almost everyday and will have some great "specials," so we hope you will also invite your friends to join. We want 500 fans!
I have been seeing lots of people for headaches and TMJ lately, so you will find some information below on how to treat this condition. Supplements that help TMJ and muscle tension include: "Serenagen" and "Myocalm PM" for muscle tension and stress. Remember, on Wednesdays we offer 10% off on ALL supplements. As always, we greatly appreciate your patronage and referrals! Thanks for choosing StillPointe for your healthcare. If you have any questions on our products, services or upcoming events, please visit our website or contact us.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) |
|
The Tempormandibular Joint, or the jaw joint, is often called the TMJ. You have two TMJs, one in front of each ear, connecting the lower jaw bone (the mandible) to the skull. The joints allow movement up and down, side to side, and forward and back - all the mobility necessary for biting, chewing and swallowing food; for speaking; and for making facial expressions.
Temporomandibular joint diseases and disorders (TMJDs) are a collection of poorly understood conditions characterized by pain in the jaw and surrounding tissues and limitations in jaw movements. Injury and conditions that routinely affect other joints in the body, such as arthritis, also affect the temporomandibular joint. (Source: TMJ Association)
The National Institute of Health (NIH) states that over 10 million people in the United States suffer from TMJ problems at any given time. While both men and women experience TMJ problems, the majority of those seeking treatment are women in their childbearing years.
Pain is the most common symptom. TMJ pain is often described as a dull, aching pain in the jaw joint and nearby areas, including the ear, which comes and goes. Some people, however, report no pain but still have problems using their jaws. Other symptoms can include: - Being unable to open the mouth comfortably - Clicking, popping or grating sounds in the jaw joint - Locking of the jaw when attempting to open the mouth - Headaches - A bite that feels uncomfortable or "off" - Neck, shoulder and back pain - Swelling of the face, ringing in the ears, ear pain - Dizziness and vision problems
Chiropractic is very effective for treating TMJ. We work with the alignment of the head and neck to reduce nerve interference and pain. At StillPointe, we also use CranioSacral therapy (CST) which helps reduce tension in the joint and realign it. Other treatments include massage, acupuncture and cold laser. In addition, we work with you on self-care, exercise and ways to avoid TMJ problems. For more information, contact the TMJ Association at www.tmj.org or go to www.upledger.com for information on CranioSacral therapy.

STILLPOINTE IN THE COMMUNITY: |
|
We are Committed to Supporting our Community. |
In February, we participated in the Sartell Community Showcase, coordinated through the Sartell Area Chamber of Commerce, Sartell-St. Stephen Community Education and LeSauk Lions Club. In addition to being a sponsor, we provided free screenings and special offers. It was a great family event and was very well attended. Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events on our website for upcoming activities that you might be interested in attending.
Two other organizations that we recently supported through donations include "Go Red" for women's heart health and the Habitat for Humanity event.
StillPointe supports employee involvement in the community and is active with several local organizations. Dr. Susan Saetre was recently appointed to the Sartell-St. Stephen Community Education Board and re-elected to the United Arts Board of Central Minnesota. | |
