Hear the latest news from Young Living and an update from the recent national convention. Join us to learn how essential oils can be used to support your health and immune system. In light of the concern about the H1N1 flu pandemic, there are many ways to protect yourself and your family if you choose not to get the traditional flu vaccinations. We will have information on oils and nutritional supplements you can use to stay strong and healthy.

STILLPOINTE IN THE COMMUNITY:
We have been busy with health fairs and screenings. We enjoyed doing spinal exams and foot scans for many children who attended our "Back to School Screening" on August 22. StillPointe, along with Pinecone Vision and Dentistry for Children provided services to over 60 children. Thank you for attending.
We will still provide complimentary scoliosis and backpack checks, so give us a call if you want us to screen your children. Remember, a child's backpack should not weigh more than 10-15% of their total body weight.
In addition, we provided employee screenings at the St. Cloud Corrections Facility on August 25, and we will be at the Hind-Site Health Fair at Discovery School on September 12, 3:00 to 7:00 PM. This is a benefit health fair and includes a run/walk fundraising activity for colorectal cancer. We will be providing massage and health screenings. See you there!

Dear Patients and Friends:
It is September already and we have lots of exciting things going on this month. StillPointe is on the move! But we didn't go very far. We are in the same great location, same building, using the same main door - but instead of taking a right into our clinic, you will need to take a left.
Last week we traded sides of Suite 105 with our neighbor, Rejuv Medical, to better accommodate space needs of both businesses. At StillPointe, you will receive all of the same great chiropractic and wellness services, while we streamline our space and processes. One of the benefits of a tight economy is the need to operate more efficiently and cost effectively. And this means keeping our cost of services affordable for you and your family as you work to maintain your commitment to good health. We are more focused while still being committed to exceptional customer service and outstanding natural health care. See our new space!

TOPIC OF THE MONTH:
"Early Antibiotic Use Linked to Asthma" |
We are focused on babies this month at StillPointe. Samantha, our front desk manager, is due the middle of the month, so in great anticipation of that event, lots of our conversation revolves around healthy children. In a recent study published in the March issue of the peer-reviewed medical journal, Pediatrics, results showed that antibiotic use in babies during their first 12 months increased their risk of developing asthma in their first 24 months. The risk was highest in children treated with more than four courses during their first year.
As you know, at StillPointe we specialize in treating infants and children. Over the years we have found that many of the antibiotic treatments given to babies are not effective because the condition is often viral or self-correcting. Excessive use of antibiotics can reduce their effectiveness over time, meaning they are progressively less likely to work the more often they are prescribed. While it is important to use them in a true bacterial infection, overuse for other conditions may cause them to be less effective when truly needed.
Now we find that this use may cause more risk of asthma as well. If you have questions about how we can work with your infants and children, please give us a call or come in for a complimentary consultation. We can offer help with many childhood conditions, and often work in conjunction with your medical provider to find the best solutions. |

Our new location doesn't allow us the space for as many supplements. Don't worry, we will continue to carry all the basics you need such as multivitamins, fish oil, calcium, etc. We just won't have as many specialty items in stock. We will still order them for you, but we need at least TWO WEEKS notice. So make sure you call us BEFORE you run out to allow us time to get your order in for you. In some cases, we may ask for pre-payment if it is something we may not use for someone else or if it is an expensive specialty item. We usually order on Wednesdays, so call Monday or Tuesday to get in that week's order.

StillPointe STAFF & SERVICES UPDATES: |

Rebecca Nielsen returns to StillPointe in September as a massage therapist and chiropractic assistant. We are excited to have her back on staff. She will provide front desk assistance during Samantha's maternity leave, and then focus more on massage. Look for some exciting changes in our massage program in the next few months.
Dr. Gena McClure will continue to provide naturopathic and EDS services at StillPointe on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. OTHER NEWS:
Book Giveaways. We are cleaning out and reducing the number of resource books, so come in to see if you would like them for your own library. They are free but we ask that you donate to our food shelf fund.
Have you tried our CHIRO EXPRESS? We are continuing "no appointment" chiropractic adjustments on Mondays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Just stop in on your way home and get a tune-up adjustment. It is available to established patients and includes just an adjustment, no therapies. We will also take new patients or current patients who get therapies, massage and rehab during this time, but appointments will still be needed for those services. Questions?
