In August, we have our yearly "Back to School" Kid's Health Day with Pinecone Vision and Dentistry for Children. Mark your calendars for this free screening on Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dentistry for Children location, 140 Twin Rivers Court, Sartell.

Dear Patients and Friends:
Happy August! I always look forward to summer, but it goes so fast! We fit so much into three short months, and it is already time to think about "back to school" and fall activities. Our August e-news is focused on kids! You will find an article on backpack safety. We are highlighing our monthly supplement special of EPA/DHA (fish oil) and it's importance for healthy kids.
Look for Dr. Montag at the StillPointe booth at the Benton County Fair on August 5-9. We will be offering free stress and muscle screenings. Plus you, your family and friends are invited to our annual "Back to School Health Screening" on August 22 from 9 a.m. - noon. Screenings will be provided by StillPointe, along with Pinecone Vision and Dentistry for Children. We are also continuing our Summer Spectacular referral program. Use it as an opportunity to refer your family and friends. They get great deals on our services, and you can win a great prize. It's okay for YOU to refer yourself if there is a service that you want to try, such as electrodermal screening or massage. Go for it - and enjoy the rest of your summer! "As the twig is bent, so grows the tree." Kids need chiropractic, too. Many spinal problems that we have as adults started in childhood or even infancy. We work with all ages, from infants to teens, to make sure their spines are in optimal position to support all of the things they love to do. Crawling, falling, sports, dance and especially poor posture can set up your child for back pain that could get worse as they grow. Even if they don't have pain, we like to check for early scoliosis, flat feet and postural problems. August is the perfect month to bring your kids in for a spinal check. Just as you get their teeth and eyes checked, don't forget the spine. We only get one spine! It houses our entire nervous system, so it is important to keep it healthy at all ages. "WATCH YOUR BACK!" Children as young as elementary school are carrying backpacks that are much too heavy for their developing spines. This is leading to an increase in back pain in children and significant postural problems as they grow. It is important to actually weigh your child's backpack to make sure they are carrying no more that 10-15% of their total body weight on their back. Backpacks should also be adjusted properly for your child's body size. We will be glad to do this for you. Bring your children in during August for a free backpack and spinal check, or come to our Back to School Screening on August 22 - details in column to the left.

Have you tried our new CHIRO EXPRESS? Summer is busy and you want to make the most of it. We are now offering "no appointment" chiropractic adjustments on Mondays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Just stop in on your way home and get a tune-up adjustment. It is available to established patients and includes just an adjustment, no therapies. We will also take new patients or current patients who get therapies, massage and rehab during this time, but appointments will still be needed for those services. Questions?
