Virtually everyone today lives with some form of stress. This can have a profound effect on your health. 70 - 90% of all visits to chiropractors and physicians are for stress-related complaints and disorders. Stress can cause heart disease, lead to diabetes, sleep disorders, TMJ, depression and many other problems. We will identify common areas of stress and show you how to incorporate simple strategies to reduce it. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a pillow as we will be doing work on our breath; as well as massage and exercises for relaxation and tension release.

March 11, 2009 |
Dear Patients and Friends: A man ninety years old was asked to what he attributed his longevity. "I reckon," he said with a twinkle in his eye, "It's because most nights I went to bed and slept when I should have sat up and worried." (Dorthea Kent)
Join us on March 23 for our "De-stress, March Mad-LESS" class and take home techniques to help YOU sleep better and reduce your stress. I recently returned from a workshop in Guatemala that focused on happiness, stress reduction and breath work, and I am anxious to share what I learned with you. Bring a friend and join us for a fun evening. We are also continuing our food drive this month, so scroll down for information on that and our specials for March. Remember, Wednesday is 10% off ALL supplements.
As always, we greatly appreciate your patronage and referrals! Thanks for choosing StillPointe for your healthcare. If you have any questions on our products, services or upcoming events, please visit our website or contact either myself or Dr. Montag at dr.saetre@stillpointe.net or dr.tim@stillpointe.net
In good health,
Dr. Susan Saetre on behalf of the StillPointe Staff: Dr. Tim Montag, Gena McClure, Jill Nessa, Gladys Lester, Gloria Kasten, Julie Thompson, Katrina Clifton, Sarah Crocker, Pat Peroutky and Star Moree. |

CONDITION OF THE MONTH & FEATURED PRODUCT. |
Condition of the Month: Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD)
The Tempormandibular Joint, or the jaw joint is often called the TMJ. You have two TMJs, one in front of each ear, connecting the lower jaw bone (the mandible) to the skull. The joints allow movement up and down, side to side, and forward and back - all the mobility necessary for biting, chewing and swallowing food; for speaking; and for making facial expressions. Tempormandibular joint diseases and disorders (TMJDs) are a collection of poorly understood conditions characterized by pain in the jaw and surrounding tissues and limitations in jaw movements. Injury and conditions that routinely affect other joints in the body, such as arthritis, also affect the temporomandibular joint. (Source: TMJ Association) The National Institute of Health (NIH) states that over 10 million people in the United States suffer from TMJ problems at any given time. While both men and women experience TMJ problems, the majority of those seeking treatment are women in their childbearing years.
Pain is the most common symptom. TMJ pain is often described as a dull aching pain in the jaw joint and nearby areas, including the ear, which comes and goes. Some people, however, report no pain but still have problems using their jaws.
Other symptoms can include: - Being unable to open the mouth comfortably - Clicking, popping or grating sounds in the jaw joint - Locking of the jaw when attempting to open the mouth - Headaches - A bite that feels uncomfortable or "off" - Neck, shoulder and back pain - Swelling of the face, ringing in the ears, ear pain - Dizziness and vision problems Chiropractic is very effective for treating TMJ. We work with the alignment of the head and neck to reduce nerve interference and pain. At StillPointe, we also use CranioSacral therapy (CST) which helps reduce tension in the joint and realign it. In addition, we work with you on self care, exercise and ways to avoid TMJ problems. For more information, contact the TMJ Association or go to: www.upledger.com for information on CranioSacral therapy. Featured Product of the Month - For the month of March, we are featuring the following two products at 10% off* ALL MONTH:
Serenagen® (formerly TCB 3) "Stressed and Wired" Serenagen is a classic, comprehensive herbal stress management formula targeting individuals who are "stressed and wired." It has been used throughout China since the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368 A.D.). According to traditional Chinese herbology, living a demanding, hectic lifestyle deeply influences mood, mental function, cognitive processes, the cardiovascular system, the liver and tolerance to change.
MyoCalm P.M.® Nighttime Muscle Relaxation Formula
MyoCalm P.M. provides the same specialized formula as MyoCalm® with the addition of lemon balm and hops-herbs traditionally used to promote relaxation and restful sleep. It promotes muscle relaxation and may help relieve minor pain associated with muscle tension caused by stress or physical overexertion. Promotes a feeling of calm, and can be taken at bedtime for occasional sleeplessness.
