Knowing When to a Buy a Business

Has the time come where instead of working for a business, you want to own one? To decide if buying a business is the right decision for you, speak to a VR business intermediary that can help you answer all the pertinent questions.

With any business opportunity, there is a degree of risk and challenge involved. Ask yourself if your personality is conducive to one that thrives in an environment where you have to wear many hats. Incorporating Limited Liability Companies
The Advantages over Other Organizations
When looking for a business to buy, find out if it is beneficial to incorporate as a Limited Liability Company (LLC). The LLC offers many of the advantages of both corporations and partnerships, with few of the drawbacks.

The LLC should be considered alongside the three other well-established forms:
  • Sole proprietorship;
  • Partnership; and
  • Corporation.
Knowing Where You Stand
Avoiding Errors in Your Credit Report
Whether it is for business or personal use, what you don't know about your credit report can cost you money, time and stress.

Many businesses rely heavily on open lines of credit with the bank as well as open credit and entertainment cards. Open lines of credit are often guaranteed by you personally. If there are errors on your report with negative inaccuracies, you can be denied.

BookKeeping Express, which operates corporate-owned and franchised accounting offices, is taking advantage of increasing demand for certified outsourced accounting services due to new, complex federal regulations and a waning economy that has companies looking for cheaper alternatives to big-name accounting firms.

They were recently featured in the Washington Business Journal detailing their increased visability on the East Coast. They are expanding rapidly, looking to have 50 new locations to assist small businesses with their accounting.

How Much Should My Business Sell For?

Louis Foster,
Lincoln, NE

Dear Louis,

Whether you're a buyer or seller, the question, "How much is this business worth" is equally relevant and extremely important. Keep in mind that this cannot be answered easily since both sides usually have contrasting opinions.

Coming to terms on an offer that both sides can agree with can be a challenge. This is where fair market value comes into play. When you meet with a VR business intermediary, you will be able to determine a fair market price by examining the comparables.
