Tails From The Squad
March 2011

Greetings!

Sometimes you have to stop running in circles chasing your tail like a puppy and just sitback, take a deep breath and appreciate the little things...which tend to be pretty important.  That's exactly what we did two weeks ago.  We've all been so busy worrying about what isn't done (in our case the thousands of dogs that still need help) and all those external factors we can't control that we often forget to look at what we have accomplished. I'm sure if we all took a few moments and reflected we could each write quite the list. For the Squad, our list from the past year is a pretty adorable roster of faces. We thought this month we would share a few of those happy beginnings with you.

Keep reading for a little feel-good action.

Happy Beginnings

Our Founder always had a soft spot in her heart for a dog named Norbert. There was something special in his eyes.  Dogs came and went, but Norbie was always there in her heart and mind.  And he got the perfect home with his friend Keira and we know he is living happily ever after.

Duke1And then there was Duke who the shelter told us NOT to take.  They said he was the devil in dog clothing.  Not convinced, Dawg Squad volunteer Helen took him anyway and worked with him every week.  Finally, after many months the man  with the soft voice and calm demeanor showed up at adoptions and was immediately taken with hyper active, crazy dog Duke!  Opposites do attract!

LouiseLouise - the dog nobody wanted. Consistently overlooked at the East Valley shelter, we took her in and anticipated her being with us for quite awhile. That is until this amazing family came looking for a puppy but fell in love with Louise. She is now in a home where she will be loved for the rest of her life.

The joke in The Squad is that if you are a dog and you have all your parts well...you are pretty much in the wrong rescue.  We've taken in one eyed dogs, blind dogs, dogs with mange so advanced that we never thought the dog would have hair, and dogs with 3 legs.  Yea....those are the ones we can't resist.  There is just something aboJeffreyut those dogs isn't there?

Who could forget Jeffrey the Rottie who Gnocchihonestly didn't even look like a dog when we got him.  Check out his amazing before and after pictures!

Gnocchi, Ilene...our little 3 leggers.  We really could go on and on but hey....why don't you all just sit back and enjoy the pictures.  We will keep sharing more happy endings for you.
