Tails From The Squad
January 2010

Greetings!

The Dawg Squad would like to thank you all for making 2009 so successful and wonderful.   We have adopted 85 dogs this year.  How amazing is that?! 85 dogs have now found forever homes thanks to all of you.  Bowling for Collars, the Bake Sales, our Photo Shoots - they would never have worked without our volunteers, adopters and supporters.

To our supporters - thank you from all our dogs who you saw through mange, pneumonia, broken bones and broken hearts.   To our fosters - YOU ROCK!.   Those of you who work behind the scenes to make my life easier - I love you!   To our new volunteers - WELCOME!

The economy collapsed, people lost their jobs, things just went crazy all over, but we all stuck together and we all accomplished miracles this year.  I'm proud to know each and every one of you. Thank you!

HOW TO PICK THE DOG BREED THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU

BY Michael Chill

One of the most common complaints among dog trainers is that many clients choose breeds of dogs whose innate behavior and temperament are totally inappropriate for their lifestyles.  In fact, many people don't even consider behavior or temperament when choosing dogs at all.  "He has such beautiful blue eyes," or "He looked just like a bear in the pet store window," or even, "The one on that TV is show just so cute!" are typical of some of the many reasons people offer when asked why they chose their dogs.

3 PAWS FOR BENJAMIN BUTTON

Well we watched a lot of movies this month but I'm going to tell you about the one called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Now this was a very long movie and I think they could have cut out about an hour because I got a little bored.   It's a movie about this guy who is born old and instead of getting older as he gets bigger, he gets younger and then he gets smaller again at the end until he's back in diapers for the 2nd time in his life.

He's really kind of a boring guy in my opinion but he is very nice to everyone and ladies liked him a lot after he got over the old man stage.  (Mom says Brad Pitt - he's the star - is gonna still be a hottie when he's 50 - whatever that means.)  Anyway, except for being too long this was a pretty good movie.   I just know that I would NEVER wanna be a puppy again because then I wouldn't be living at Mom's house and my life would not be very happy so I'm glad I'm just getting older and living here!

I give this movie 3 paws up.  (Get a large popcorn if you're gonna watch it)

Peace out!
Shalom

Fannie MaeSUCCESS STORY

Fannie Mae came to us via another rescue and she was a princess from day one.  This Rottie girl was great with all dogs and even tolerated cats and boy did she love water!  So we had to find her a home with another dog, a cat and a swimming pool and we did and Fannie couldn't be happier!  Here is Ms. Fannie with her buddy Frosty enjoying a day at Dog Beach.

Thank you Tony for adopting this wonderful Rottweiler!
