Greetings!
Welcome to
the 4th of July Holiday edition of Dawg Squad news. This month we're
sizzling into summer with bug talk, Shalom's review and a special
announcement. You guessed it, Bowling for Collars is back!
Have a wonderful and safe Holiday Weekend - and remember, lots of dogs
are spooked by fireworks. Keep your pets safe and avoid destructive
behaviors by staying with your animals, securing them in a crate or
other safe area while you are away, or even boarding them for the
weekend. Talk to your vet for more information or advice.
Keep reading for event details, tick talk and more!

TICK TALK
LOS ANGELES, CA - With the passage of time, changes occur in our environment. One of the indicators of this change is variation in the plant and animal species in our community. In my early years of practice, I would rarely see a dog with a tick. If a dog presented with one, I could safely assume that he had frequented the local horse race track. Now, I regularly see tick-infested dogs from many different neighborhoods. ...
Find out how to protect our dog from ticks. |

Dear Dawg Squad, How the heck are ya? This is your old buddy Roscoe. I saw Bernie's
picture on line and thought boy oh boy do I miss you. I also wanted to
let you know that I am doing really well.
I walk every day and go to
the park and run and run with my little sister Sweetie. My older
sister Hunter, can't run too much anymore so she just jumps around and
barks at us as we run in circles. My mom is living with this new
person who has 6 reallhy cool grandkids and they just love me. They
come over and play with me all the time. I am still so grateful that
your mom found me and gave me to my wonderful mom Cyndi. She's the
best! By the way, it was coooool seeing my picture on line too. I was
such a cute little boy . Anyway, my mom set up my own email account
now and I write emails to the grandkids and they write me back. It's
fun! So thought I should drop you a line and say hi.

SHALOM'S PICS
OK, I thought Mom said we were gonna watch a DOGumentary but it was a DOCumentary. But it was so cool. The movie was called The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill
and it's about this man who takes care of these really pretty birds in
San Francisco.
Some of them come in his house but most of the time
they stay outside and fly around the city. I didn't know that birds
could be that pretty...the pigeons in my yard only come in grey.
These birds were mostly green and yellow with some red but there was
one really cool one who had a blue head. He was sad because he didn't
have a girlfriend. I say that everyone should see this
movie....you'll learn alot about parrots!
Three paws up (no dogs, no car chases...but still good!)
Peace out!
Shalom

DOG OF THE MONTH

Meet PEPPER
Pepper is a unique little number with HUGE ears, short little legs and
a warm, winning personality. She can be shy when you first meet her
but once she is confident that you want to be her friend, she is the
best little tail wagger around!
Pepper's unique looks and gorgeous coloring make her one of a
kind. She is great with other dogs, gentle with children and prefers
women to men.
So what is her breed?
Honestly, we have no idea...we are guessing with her coloring and ears.
