Greetings!

Welcome to the second installment of Dumb Dog Toys...

Even Dumber Dog Toys

The first riveting half of this two-part series covered dog toys made out of household items. Now we'll be discussing "Even Dumber Dog Toys." Why is this second selection of canine entertainment implements even less intelligent than their homemade counterparts? Read full article...

Bernie
  DEAR BERNIE

My husband and I did a lot of
  research and bought breed
  specific books when we knew
that our time with our dogs was
  coming to a close.

We wanted to be educated on
what breed of dog we would
  have next. I knew I didn't want
another lab.  After  a YEAR of research we decided on either an Amstaff or APBT, specifically because of their reputation as a family dog and how great they are with kids. We were all set to go to a breeder when we decided to look in to rescued dogs. We were astounded at how many Pit Mix dogs were languishing in shelters.

WHY??

That's when we learned about how misunderstood and misrepresented the breed was. Not that we've lived under a rock but I'd heard so much garbage about my big dogs growing up.  And ... I'd always loved my friends Pits that I just didn't get it. So...

You all have been hearing this for some time. You're used to it.  I'm just learning about it all and I'm angry!!! It makes no sense. None whatsoever.

Did you know that Bearded Collies have one of the lowest % ratings with the American Temperament Test Society. Thousands of Rotties and Pitties are tested every year and rate in the mid 80's. We looked this all up when deciding what dog to get. I know, It's nothing that you don't already know but SHEESH.. Come on people.  So we adopted a pit mix from Dawg Squad and WE LOVE HER.

Seriously, my daughter is a bigger threat to society right now than my dog. When is someone gonna put a ban on 3 1/2 year old bossy as all get out girls I ask you???

Signed,

Pit Bulls Rock in Reseda!

Dear PBR,

WOW....I'm speechless.  Right on!

Shalom watching tv SHALOM'S PICS

I watched the movie BOLT two
times.  This is the most fun movie
  ever!

BOLT is a dog with super powers
but only on TV.  But he thinks he
  ALWAYS has super powers and
things get really crazy when he
gets lost and has to find his way
  back to the movie studio.

BOLT makes friends with this cute cat (yes I said "cute cat") named Mittens and a hamster named Rhino.  Mittens the cat is very smart and I don't think BOLT would have made it in the real world if she wasn't there to help him.  Mom says it's a nice story about friendship and she liked the part about adopting animals from shelters but Mom always looks for the sappy part.  I liked the car chases and the people yelling and that silly Rhino rolling around in his ball.  So I give this movie a for sure four paws up and I hope Mom lets me watch it one more time before she sends it back.

Peace out,
Shalom

Bitsy PET OF THE MONTH
  In Memoriam

  Bitsy brought smiles to
  everyone who met her.
  Without eyes, she only saw
  the good in people and
  brought out the best in
  everyone who came into her
  life.

Bitsy lost a battle with cancer
on 4/29/09 and everyone in Dawg Squad will miss her.  She was only 4 years old.

We all know that our dogs just aren't here long enough and when they leave us there is a huge hole in our hearts.  There are many support groups in Los Angeles and on the internet to help us get over the hurdle of loss.  One of our favorites is petloss.com

There are also many dedicated professionals whose job is to help those who have lost a furry friend.  We have no recommendations but check out Pet Bereavement Counselors of California if you have lost a pet and need help coping with your loss.

Norbert

Meet NORBERT

Like the tall, dark and handsome type? Norbert is a big sweetheart of a Rottweiler, and is looking for a loving home of his very own.

He bonds quickly, gets along with other large dogs - he'd especially love a girlfriend! - and will make a wonderful companion for some lucky adopter. He has been known to confuse smaller dogs and animals with squeak toys - so big dogs only would be best.

Norbert is a leaner - he'll snuggle up for a back scratch and then roll over for a tummy rub. Simply put: he's a love.

Come meet him and see for yourself.
