On a Personal Note
As a deeply confused teenager (is there any other kind?), I was constantly on the lookout for guidance about my destiny.
One of the first places I looked was "Linda Goodman's Sun Signs."
I still remember one of her comments about my destiny:
"Virgos are born to notice the tiniest crack in the vase."
I HATED that ... yet I knew it was true, because I seemed to have a gift (or curse) for zeroing in on what was wrong with anything, from my macrame projects to my creative writing projects ... to my life.
A high school aptitude test that I hoped would point me in the right career direction noted aptitudes for detail, logic and precision and concluded, "You were born to be a Swiss watchmaker."
Ugh. Not exactly what an avid participant in the Drama Club and Speech Team wanted to hear.
I wanted to do creative stuff, darn it - not diddle around with minutiae!
Fortunately, I have free will. (Just like you!)
My gifts are MY gifts, and I am free to use them as I please.
They come in surprisingly handy in the Intuitive work I do now.
That flair for detail, logic and precision makes it easier to pinpoint the underlying issues gumming up the works for my clients and students in their careers, their relationships or their physical health.
It's helped me to see that even our most illogical actions and beliefs have their own internal logic (weird and wacky as it may be) - which make it easier to explain and transform them.
I've also come to understand that my gift for noticing the tiniest crack in the vase can be turned around to focus on all the blessings in my life, which makes it much easier to hold an attitude of gratitude.
Here's the bottom line: our gifts can point us in certain directions. It's up to us to decide where we want to go with them.
