On a Personal Note
A wonderful thing happens when I wake up on Tuesday and Thursday mornings ...
The first thought in my head is, "Wow! We're doing an Abundance Intensive class tonight! Hooray!"
I have NEVER had so much fun doing my work - and I never thought I would say that!
Back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I was a young journalist, I was convinced I had the coolest job in the world.
As the entertainment editor of a daily newspaper, I spent five or six nights a week going to theater openings, gallery galas, TV show previews, premieres for movies, opera and the ballet ...
When my newspaper folded in the mid-1980s, I had already been in contact with the editors all the Los Angeles newspapers and magazines (having hunted for a journalism job in L.A. since Day One).
When I checked in with them about employment, they said the LA Herald-Examiner had just gone "kaput," too.
My field was now flooded with job candidates far more qualified, experienced and connected than I was.
Eventually I went on to work in other fields. Yet secretly, I mourned the loss of my journalism job every day.
Funny thing: about five years into the corporate job I'd taken, an opportunity came to review theater for a local weekly.
I went to a performance they assigned and sat down to write the review.
About 1/3 of the way through, I had to stop.
It just felt wrong to sit in judgment on other people's artistic endeavors - even though I enjoyed that performance immensely. With great effort, I completed the review and sent it in with my resignation.
It felt healing to let go of mourning for my lost job ... but I had nothing to take its place.
Until an angel kissed me on the spine one day at that corporate job and set me on the path I now follow with great joy every day - especially Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Just goes to show new possibilities can open for us at any time, whether you're an early bloomer, a late bloomer, or have yet to bloom!
