Aloha Lanakila Pacific Volunteers!

How is everyone doing? January came and went so quick! Hope everyone is staying on top of their resolutions...we are!

Lanakila TLC Lanai Sale

One of our resolutions was to clear out clutter in our work spaces to make way for new projects in 2012. While doing so, we came across a wealth of new and gently used treasures and hosted a Lanai Sale.

TLC instructors helped community members and co-workers sort through the goods and raised money toward their upcoming trip to the Big Island! We'll be hosting more lanai sales in the coming weeks. Please stay in touch via Twitter or Facebook for daily updates on the everyday happenings at Lanakila Pacific.

Lanakila Farm

We're going green-er! Lanakila Pacific aims high when it comes to nurturing the environment which is why our new partnership with 'Nalo Farms is something to celebrate!

TLC participants recently went on a field trip to Dean Okimoto's farm in Waimanalo.

The 'Nalo Farms crew showed us around and helped us better understand their mission of providing fresh island produce throughout the state of Hawaii.

TLC participants are excited to get started! Here's Ed Okimoto, Lanakila Pacific Ground Maintenance Manager, clearing brush from our work area at 'Nalo Farms. Plan for a ground-breaking ceremony are scheduled for later this month.

Lanakila Pacific DO GOODers

Volunteer ohana, please meet Ed Hayashi. (Wearing gray shirt in picture below)

Ed has volunteered for Lanakila Meals on Wheels for 20 years! He and his friend, Mits (wearing hat in picture above), come to Lanakila Pacific Monday through Friday at 6am to package bread. These two gentlemen are DO GOODers at the core and inspire us to put our manini troubles aside and help others.

We'd also like to recognize Lanakila Meals on Wheels Adopt-a-Route volunteer group, Omega Psi Phi (OPP).

OPP is an international fraternity of men dedicated to community service, and character and leadership development. OPP's Hawaii Chapter volunteers delivering meals to homebound seniors in Kalihi every third Saturday of the month.

Thank you for your dedication and service, OPP! See you next week!

Say What?!

We want to hear from you - what you like, don't like and would like to see from the Lanakila Pacific DO GOOD Volunteer Program. Volunteer surveys will be distributed starting Monday, February 13. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Mahalo for Reading!

And of course, mahalo for volunteering. Thank you for taking a stand for seniors and adults with disabilities with Lanakila Pacific. Thank you for being the change you want to see in this world.

WE NEED YOUR HELP Lanakila Pacific Special Event Volunteer Opportunities

There's always something happening at Lankaila Pacific. Listed below are a few areas where we could use your help. Please contact Tiffany 356-8546 or Randi 356-8532 to sign-up!

Lanakila TLC Survey Helpers

Lanakila TLC is surveying participants to make sure they're receiving the services they need from us. Many of our participants need help reading and recording their survey answers - that's where you come in. If you have a few hours on a weekday during the month of February, please let us know. This opportunity is for both Lanakila Pacific TLC locations - Bachelot and Wahiawa.

March for Meals Sign Artists

It's that time of year again! Time to remind legislators how much we love our kupuna! We need volunteers to help make signs like these:

We're making signs on Feb. 15, 16 and 17, 10am - 3pm. We may add a weekend shift if we don't make enough signs on those days. Please let us know if you'd like to join the sign making crew!

March for Meals Sign Wavers

Show your love for Kupuna! Please come to the State Capitol on Thursday, March 1 from 10 - 11:30am for our annual March for Meals. This is one of our biggest events - we're expecting more than 500 supporters including legislators who care about kupuna. We'll wave signs alongside seniors and supports who care about programs for Hawaii's older adults. Read more about what we did last year here:  www.lanakilapacific.org/march-for-meals

Please contact Randi at 356-8532 if you plan on attending and for more information.

Lanakila TLC 'Dance Around The World' Helpers

TLC puts on a show every year. This year, they chose to showcase dances from around the world. And for the very first time, they'll host their event as a fundraiser show. The tentative date for TLC's 'Dance Around The World' show is Wednesday, March 21 and we'll need volunteers to help greet and usher guests when they arrive. Please let us know if you're interested in helping TLC's performing arts program.

Lanakila Mystery Shoppers

Customer service is of utmost importance to us at Lanakila Pacific and we want to make sure we're providing excellent* service. To do so, we're developing a quality assurance program and would like to get you involved as a "mystery shopper". There are no special skills or qualifications for this. We will coach and guide you through the process. If you're interested, please contact us.

*Excellence is one of our core values. There are three other core values that we covered in volunteer orientation. The first 10 people to name one of the three other Lanakila Pacific core values gets entered to win a fun, nifty prize!
