LAUNCHING OF THE V.F.A. FEMINIST ART SALON,

"MEET THE ARTIST OF THE MONTH"

by Gloria Orenstein, Chair of VFA's ARTIST Committee

This is a call to all the artists in Veteran Feminists of America to be featured in VFA's new Salon series. Each month VFA plans to present the life story of one of our artists in her own words, following her own storyline of how her artistic life evolved as it was enhanced by her feminist consciousness and activism from decade to decade until the present. This unique feature will focus on the personal narrative in the artist's own words of her life in art as she sees it and shares her journey with us.

We are inviting our artist affiliates-sisters, awardees from our art event---pioneer feminists in the arts, activists, creators in all genres to write your biographies just as June Blum has done in the last issue of our bulletin, and send them in to Jacqui Ceballos at [email protected]. We will edit and publish them, and in this way another dimension will be added to our HERSTORY of the feminist artists in our time, a dimension in which the artist speaks in her own voice and tells her story from her personal perspective.

As we receive these submissions VFA will present them monthly on its webpage, www.vfa.us. and send them out to its wide audience of avid art lovers and members. Please send them in as soon as possible so we can keep this feature well supplied with inspiring examples of your lives.

VFA's salon presentations will be inclusive of all of you, hoping to show many new examples of the ways in which women artists , both individually and collectively, through their feminist and artistic creativity, contributed to the ongoing changes that are now transforming the art world and the narratives of art history.

Please attach up to three jpgs as well as a photo of yourself to the text that you submit.

Looking forward to receiving your bios.
