Dear Feminist Friend,
Thanks to YOU, VFA continues to honor veteran feminists and protect the legacy of the feminist movement. Please continue to help keep VFA alive by paying your 2011 dues.
Everyone is suffering from this long recession, but we must keep VFA functioning to continue our work. So, if you can afford it, please send not only your dues, but a bit extra to help those who cannot . We feel that every feminist activist has already dues .. so we never take anyone off our list!
If you're not a member, but are a veteran feminist, you are one of us. Please join VFA officially. Because of the interest from younger members the VFA board voted to open membership to all feminists who wish to join, no matter their ages.
Weve had another successful year. In March Bonnie Wheeler organized a major event in at the Women's Museum in Dallas. Over 500 attended. Gloria Steinem, the key noter, gave another inspiring talk and later, helped place medals around the 100 pioneer feminists who were honored. There were inter generational panels and the young women's interest in VFA influenced us to change our by laws to include feminists of all ages.
In August VFA was honored by the National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls.Though the event was planned in a very short time, five VFA board members and about 30 VFA members were there to applaud as Christina Moulton, the Hall's Executive Director, presented us with a beautiful award at the evening gala. See story www.vfa.us.
Our work goes on constantly... Jan Cleary, our web manager, keeps updating our wonderful web page. She and new board member, Jeanne McGill have designed T shirts, cups and other memorabilia with feminist photos and set up shops on the internet. You can reach these shops for holiday gifts at the VFA GIFT SHOPPE and EQUALITY, I AM WOMAN STORE
Barbara Love is updating her database from VFA's book, Feminists Who Changed America 1963-1975, which documents the work of 2,200 feminists of the Second Wave. And we hope to add stories of activists from the 1980s and 1990s.
VFA performs many services for its members, such as promoting members' books and projects, putting people in touch with others who can help them, and providing useful information on feminist events.
Board members of VFA are signing this letter together because we're all committed our mission to tell the world what feminism has accomplished - and why the ideals of feminism are needed today more than ever;
Thanks so much for all you did and are doing for feminism. And thanks for sending your 2011 dues to continue our unique work. As you know, YOUR PAYMENT IS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.
