PIONEER FEMINIST AND FORMER VFA BOARD MEMBER LOIS HERR IS RUNNING FOR CONGRESS FROM PENNSYLVANIA AGAINST THE CONSERVATIVE Joe Pitts AND NEEDS OUR HELP!

She writes:

DEAR SISTERS, The need to win this race has never been more urgent. Joe Pitts, my opponent, is standing up in congress and accusing Obama of mandating abortions!

I've challenged him before, twice in a Republican district where he has been in office since 1996. In 2006 the vote was 56.6% Pitts, 39.5% Herr, and 3.9% other. But things look brighter this time..... Our registration numbers are better ---Democrats and Independents together outnumber Republicans-- and the need for change is even greater than it was in 2004 and 2006, so I've returned to challenge him in 2010 for the third time.

Your help will ensure that my candidacy receives the attention it deserves. Please help me replace a problem with a problem solver by sending a contribution today, of whatever amount .... by going online to www.herr2010.com.

MANY Thanks,

in sisterhood,

Lois Herr

Congress needs a feminist Democrat from PA-16 to replace incumbent, arch-conservative Congressman Joe Pitts. Despite his promise to serve only five terms, Pitts is running for an eighth as a self-proclaimed enemy of reproductive rights for women.

From my careers in telecommunications, higher education, and politics, I have always fought for the advancement of women's rights. I'm a former VFA board member, my bio is in Barbara J. Love's Feminists Who Changed America, 1963-1975, and I've published the story of the fight for affirmative action in Women, Power, and AT&T: Winning Rights in the Workplace. My positions on all issues are more progressive and much more in tune with the values we share asVFA members than those of the current Congressman.

Thanks again for any help you can give me.
