VETERAN FEMINISTS of AMERICA
Veteran Feminists of America
TO ALL MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING, VETERAN FEMINISTS OF AMERICA

FROM YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS                                                           August 5, 2009

Your board of directors is asking you to vote upon the following Bylaws Amendment for Veteran Feminists of America. Your board unanimously recommends a "Yes" vote.

We propose that the 2nd paragraph of Section 4, under Board, shall be amended to state as follows:

The board shall consist of the eight officers and not more than thirty-one other directors elected by the membership.  The board may appoint any member to fill a vacancy in an office or on the board until the next election.

Currently the Bylaws says "The board shall consist of the eight officers and not more than twenty five other directors elected by the membership."  In other words, it is now proposed that six more places for directors shall be added to the maximum number of board directorships available.  These new directors do not need to be elected all at once.  But several very promising women are already doing valuable work for VFA, and they would be willing to serve as directors if they are elected in the near future.

The reasons for this proposal have become increasingly crucial in the past couple of years.  VFA needs more directors to help carry out its mission.  Our current directors need the assistance of more people to provide the necessary time and labor and financial support that VFA requires.  Also, in the words of our president Jacqui Ceballos, "The additional six openings will enable VFA to recruit a number of somewhat-younger veteran feminists who are eager and able to work hard as directors. These additional younger veterans are essential for VFA's future survival."

PLEASE EMAIL OR MAIL YOUR VOTE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO VFA SECRETARY VIRGINIA WATKINS.  Say "I vote Yes to the proposed Bylaws amendment" or "I vote No to the proposed Bylaws amendment."  It is essential that you include your name and your Email address or Postal address.  Ginny's email address is ginnylsw@q.com.  Her postal address is 5841 Whited AV, Minnetonka MN 55345.

Voting will be ended on September 8, 2009.  In accordance with our Bylaws, the amendment will pass if it receives a Yes vote from "2/3 of the voting members on the mailed proposal." Email as well as postal mail meets our definition of "mailed."

Thank you very much for your prompt attention to this VFA business.  VFA continues to rely on the support of its members for its mission of continuing the feminist revolution.  And if you can see fit to send a much-needed donation, of any size, we'd be VERY grateful!
