AND THEIR FRIENDS

Welcoming women of all ages
to the VETERAN FEMINISTS OF AMERICA luncheon
 April 20, 2009 at 12:30 - 3:30 pm
Oak Restaurant, Palm-Aire Country Club
2600 Palm-Aire Drive North, Pompano, Florida.

***********

You may be thinking that the work of the VETERAN FEMINISTS OF AMERICA is over now that our records have been safely archived at Duke University.

You may be thinking that the work of the VETERAN FEMINISTS OF AMERICA is over now that Feminists Who  Changed America  has been published, a book documenting the contributions of pioneers of the Second Wave of Feminism.

Well, sisters, if that's what you're thinking, you'd be wrong!

Many of us are grandmothers and mothers, but all of us are foremothers
in the women's movement.

Our job now is to teach and inspire the younger generation, and to keep on working for equality, respect and opportunity on behalf of women around the world. This is an inevitable challenge that we must increasingly assume as the older generation leaves the field and younger women enter it.

We want younger women to witness, with pride, your extraordinary achievements, and provide them with a sense of their own possibilities.

As we turn our attention to the next horizons, our luncheon will promote a new goal for VFA:

To acknowledge and celebrate those who represent the best of feminist activism-not only the pioneers of the Second Wave - but outstanding contemporary feminist leaders.

This is the future, we believe, of the VETERAN FEMINISTS OF AMERICA, as we pass the torch of our work and gathering history from generation to generation.

So, we encourage you to bring your daughters and granddaughters - or any of the young
women in your lives-to lunch and a celebration of our achievements!
