Color Renovation

The Last Chapter

Greetings!

This week concludes the introduction to the Stampin UP! color renovation. The fourth color collection, Neutrals, is summarized below, and will be premiering on July 1 with the new catalog.  These neutrals by themselves make for lovely papercraft and art, as is shown in the project inspiration.

The Color Renovation also means that many colors are retiring.  So if you want to stock up, now is the time before SU runs out.

Don't forget:  May is National Scrapbooking Month.  Not only does Stampin' UP! have a free give-away, but Sara Jane's Studio is having a drawing for a gift pack of the "Scrapbook in a Day".  This gift includes TWO free Simply Scrappin' Kits, which alone is a $39.90 value!!  Read on below on how you might win.

The Summer Mini Catalog debuted on May 1.  Check out all the new stamps, papers, and punches.

The Color Renovation - The Last Chapter

Stampin' UP! will be introducing new families of colors as part of their COLOR RENOVATION, which will premier with the new catalog on July 1.

Over the last few weeks, you've been introduced to the Brights, the Subtles, and the Regals.  All are combinations of existing colors, returning InColors, and some new colors to round out the collections.  This week, it's the Neutrals.

The Neutrals Collection
Collection Neutrals

These ten neutrals work fabulously with all of the other collections as accents, but they also present a wonderful pallette on their own for beautiful, elegant statements.

Here are some inspired projects using these colors:

Birthday card with neutral base and accents
Neutrals Card 1

This card uses Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft) as a base.  The Medallion is stamped in Old Olive on Old Olive cardstock, with Happy Birthday stamped in Chocolate chip across the bottom.  The upper corners were rounded, and it was mounted on Chocolate Chip cardstock. THe Scallop Trim border punch, and paper piercer were used on the Bashful Blue element, it was embellished with two Olive brads, and Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon.  The flower was made by repeatedly stamping "Happy" (from Define Your Life) on white paper with Cholocolate Chip ink, and punching out three Scalloped Circles.  Crumple gently, and sponge the edges with Chocolate Chip.  Then hold them together with a bright brad before mounting on the card.

Cute "purse" with Neutral accents
Neutrals Project 2

This cute little "purse" is made from the Top Note die and the Big Shot, using Bashful Blue.  Emboss again with the Big Shot, using the Elegant Bouquet Textured Embossing Folder, and highlight with a few silver brads.  The pretty highlight is stamped with A Flower for All Seasons, using ink to watercolor the image, and mounted on a Scalloped Circle punched from Chocolate Chip.  "Thanks so much" is from Three Little Words, and the cute little butterflies were made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.  Striped grosgrain ribbon provides the "handles".

Card with Neutral base and accents
Neutrals card 3

This is another lovely example of a card made on a Crumb Cake Base, with the striped grosgrain ribbon as a major accent, tied with Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon.  The Top Note die was used on Regal Rose for the mat.  Bashful Blue was Scalloped with the Scallop Edge Punch, and highlighted with a strip of So Saffron, attached with So Saffron bradsTrendy Trees provided the tree image, and the sentiment was from On Your Birthday.

Remember:  the Color Renovation also means lots of retiring colors.  If you LOVE Orchid Opulence, and can't live without Ballet Blue, now is the time to stock up on ink pads, cardstock, and markers.  You can check out the list of retiring colors here
