Greetings!
Here it is, Week 3 (already!) of the 12 Weeks of Christmas from Sara Jane's Studio. Each week until December 25, subscribers to my newsletter will receive the basic instructions for making a special card, small gift, or other handcrafted item for the holidays.
With each newsletter will also be the opportunity to purchase a full kit for making the project. Alternatively, you have the option of purchasing pieces of each kit, if, for example, you already have the stamp set, and only want to purchase the supplies and pre-cut cardstock. AND, if you have good intentions, but there simply are not enough hours in the day, you'll also have the choice to buy the finished product.
This week's project is another card called: "'Tis the Season". It uses a very sweet stamp set called "Punch Pals". This set, as the name implies, was designed to work with many of the different decorative paper punches available from Stampin' Up!. Check it out, and enjoy!
PS If you'd still like to purchase the projects from Weeks 1 and 2, scroll down to the bottom of this newsletter for the links! |

'Tis the Season Instructions
This card was designed by Stampin' Up! for the recent "World Card Making Day" celebration. I love the clean lines, and the use of classic red with a less traditional green. The ribbon embellishment is an added plus! It's quick and easy to make- I love that aspect of it, too! [One disclaimer: the card itself is a lovely shade of deep green called "Always Artichoke". The reproduction does not do the color justice!]
The stamp set is "Punch Pals". These stamps were designed to be used together with many of the decorative paper punchesfrom Stampin' Up!, including the tags and ovals, in addition to the various circle sizes and the scallop punch used in this card. Of course they are great to use all by themselves, too.
Start with 1/2 sheet of Always Artichoke cardstock, folded in half, to make the card itself. Cut a piece of Real Red cardstock 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", and a piece of River Rock cardstock (one of this year's In Colors) 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". Cut a piece of Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon about 13" long. Wrap it twice around the short end of the River Rock card stock, and tie in a square knot (remember: the ends go right over left and over, then left over right and over). The square knot is the most attractive knot, and even better, it stays tied! Trim the ends with a sharp pair of scissors. Attach the River Rock to the Real Red, leaving a 1/8" border of red all around. Attach this to the card, about 5/8" from the top edge, and 3/8" from the sides.
Punch out a scalloped circle from Real Red, and use the 1/16" punch to create a hole in each "petal". Alternatively, you can use an awl, or a large darning needle to make these holes. The punch will give you a cleaner finish, but the other methods work just fine. Mount this using Stampin' Dimensionals to the right of the ribbon on the River Rock.
Stamp the "Tis the Season" image in Always Artichoke Classic Ink on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Punch out this image with the 1-1/4" paper punch. [ NOTE: the best way to do this is to turn the punch over, and insert your stamped image so that you can see it in the punch. That way, you can easily center your image before punching.] Mount this image using Stampin' Dimensionals on the scalloped circle.
Using Real Red Classic Ink, stamp the small snowflake from Punch Pals on River Rock cardstock. Punch it out with the 3/4" paper punch. Using Stampin' Dimentionals, mount the snowflake in the center of the "Tis the Seaon" image.
And, you are done!
