12 Weeks of Christmas - Week 11

Greetings!

Holy cow!  It's already mid-December.  How did that happen?  Because things tend to get even more frantic the closer we get to Christmas, these last two weeks' projects are very simple.  This week, it's for the gift you can give anyone:  a gift card holder.  And it's designed with a winter theme, so if you are exchanging Hanukkah gifts, and need a last minute idea for the last days, this just might do it!

As you know, with the newsletter also comes the opportunity to purchase a full kit for making the project.  Alternatively, you have the option of purchasing pieces of each kit, if, for example, you already have the stamp set, and only want to purchase the supplies and pre-cut cardstock.  OR, if you have good intentions, but there simply are not enough hours in the day, you'll also have the choice to buy the finished product.  Please be aware that you must order by December 14, to allow the elves (and yourself!) enough time to put everything together.

Hoping you are enjoying holiday season!

Keep creating!

Gift Card Holder Instructions
Finished card holder This week's project looks like you've put a lot of time into it.  Fortunately, you don't have to!  It makes up quick because it is simple in design, and because it uses a jumbo Stampin' Around wheel to make the images.  If you are not familiar with how to use these, please check out this post on my website. I love them beause they allow you to cover a whole lot of ground very quickly.  The wheel I used is "Bold Snowflakes" from Stampin' Up!

ScoringThe first step is to ink the cartridge for the jumbo wheel with White Craft ink.  (Again, if you are unclear how to do this, just visit my website.)   Once this is done, cut a piece of Blue Bayou cardstock to 4" X 6".  Holding it in "landscape" layout (meaning the 6" long edges are at the top and the bottom), score 1-1/2" from the left edge, and again at 4".  Here, I am showing the scoring using a new tool I discovered, "ScorePal."   It's a single use tool, but if you like to make a variety of projects that require lots of scorring, it is invaluable.

Stamping the imagePut together your Stampin' Around wheel with the white ink cartridge, and cover the entire card on one side with the snowflake images.  Let it dry.  (You can expedite the drying if you are impatient, like me, by heating with your heat gun.)  Take a scrap piece of Blue Bayou and roll the wheel across it- you will use this later for the final embellishment.

Setting eyeletsFold up the 1-1/2" wide flap and set eyelets at both corners.  I used my Crop-o-dile, which feels like a tool that is unnecessarily big- but it's not.  (Especially if you like to set eyelets in heavy materials.)

Belly bandMake your belly band by cutting a piece of Whisper White cardstock 3/4" X 6-1/4".  Score at 2-1/4" and 3-3/4".  Crease the scores lines, and make sure the band fits easily but snugly around the card.  Attach the ends to each other using SNAIL adhesive.  Mount a 6-1/4" piece of Soft Sky Double-Stitched Ribbon using Mini Glue Dots to the center of the band.

EmbellishmentFor the final embellishment, punch out a white snowflake with the 1-1/4" circle punch.  Put a silver brad in the center of the snowflake.  Then mount on a circle of Whisper White that was punched out using the 1-3/8" circle punch.  Use Mini Glue Dots to attach this to your belly band.

For a simpler (and perhaps more feminine look) you can put another set of eyelets in the cover of the card holder, across from the eyelets that create the pocket inside.  (With the Crop-o-dile, you can easily punch all layers at once!)  Thread a piece of white organdy ribbon through the eyelets, and tie in a bow in front.
