Greetings!
Here it is! The inaugural newsletter for the 12 Weeks of Christmas. Each week until December 25, I'll provide the basic instructions for making a special card, small gift, or other handcrafted item for the holidays.
With each newsletter will be the opportunity to purchase a full kit for making the project. You will also have the option of purchasing pieces of each kit, if, for example, you already have the stamp set, and only want to purchase the supplies and pre-cut cardstock. AND, if you have good intentions, but there simply are not enough hours in the day, you'll also have the choice to buy the finished product.
Read on to learn about the project for Week 1: "Merry Frosty". It's a holiday card that uses one of my favorite stamp sets, and this years' In Colors.

Merry Frosty Instructions  The "Frosty" stamp set from Stampin' Up! is one of my favorites. It's been around for a little while, but he's one of the old friends you keep because they are pure gold!
This card uses the new InColors Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, and Purely Pomegranate. Frosty is stamped onto a piece of Whisper White using StazOn ink so you don't have to worry about the black ink running as you color in some of Frosty's features. The ribbon is the double-stitched grosgrain in Purely Pomegranate, and the " be merry" medalion is punched out of the two nested sizes of oval punches from Stampin' Up!
For this project, you need 1/2 sheet (8-1/2" x 11") of Wild Wasabi for the card. Stamp the snowflake from the Frosty set all over the card front using Wild Wasabi ink. Stamp Frosty on a piece of Whisper White using black StazOn ink, and trim to 2-1/2" x 3-1/4". Color in his hat, nose and the little sprig of holly using Stampin' Write markers in Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Glorious Green, and Real Red. You have two choices for coloring his scarf and hat band. You can use Real Red, and it will look terrific. Or, if you want to match the Purely Pomegranate, you can use a Blender Pen with a drop of Purely Pomegranate refill ink. If you like, you can also use Bordering Blue pastel (from Stampin' Pastels) to shade some of Frosty's curvy edges, and along the snowline at the bottom.
Cut a piece of Purely Pomegranate cardstock 2-3/4" x 3-1/2", and mount your Frosty image to that using SNAIL adhesive. Cut a piece of Blue Bayou to 3" x 3-3/4" and mount your image to that.
Stamp " be merry" from the " Warm Words" stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White using Blue Bayou ink. (You could also use " very merry" from the " Short and Sweet" stamp set if you have that one instead.) Punch out " be merry" with the smaller oval punch, and use the larger oval punch to make an oval of Purely Pomegranate. Mount the white to the Pomegranate oval using SNAIL adhesive.
Cut a piece of double-stitched grosgrain ribbon approximately 9-1/2" long. Use glue dots to attach this to the card, about two-thirds down from the folded edge, with the ends in the front. (They will not meet, but will be covered up by the Frosty image.) Attach Frosty using a generous amount of SNAIL adhesive. Then attach the punched ovals to the ribbon using glue dots.
