The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM) is an international non-profit interdisciplinary organization dedicated to exploring and applying subtle energies as they relate to the experience of consciousness, healing, and human potential. ISSSEEM is in a unique position, acting both as a bridge builder between communities and a leader in the field, offering a community with a widespread appreciation of the energetic component within many disciplines including quantum physics, therapeutic modalities, healing, psychology, consciousness, psi and the understanding of our multidimensional existence.

Greetings!

Denise Lewis Premschak

"Seeing the tremendous importance of science and recognizing its inevitable dominance in the modern world fundamentally changed my attitude to it from curiosity to a kind of urgent engagement. .... I wanted to understand science because it gave me a new area to explore in my personal quest to understand the nature of reality. I also wanted to learn about it because I recognized in it a compelling way to communicate insights gleaned from my own spiritual tradition."

Can you relate to this statement made by the Dalai Lama in his book, The Universe in a Single Atom?  I daresay it's likely that most of us drawn here can.  It seems that we particularly crave understanding, so we engage in systematic explorations, and from there we find, like HHDL, a more 'compelling way to communicate' what we've sensed, practiced, and applied in our lives all along.

There's a grassroots movement advancing the 'science of being' to which we subscribe--indeed one with a great deal of momentum that members of this community can claim having begun!  The significant role of the ISSSEEM in this movement is evidenced today not only by the number and quality of groundbreaking scientific abstracts being presented at the annual Research Symposium, but how many of those are 'being' focused.  And the movement is more alive than ever, throughout all the 21 years of stimulating, diverse, reliable articles and presentations.

Bridging science and spirit is what we've always been up to here . . . exploring and exchanging experiences that have to do witconsciousness, healing, and human potential.   As a vital community, powerfully connected worldwide, ISSSEEM is realizing itself now as the collaborative communications network it is - for everyone everywhere.

YOU, the members of this community, are both the impulse and the influencers for a more symbiotic way of operating the ISSSEEM to come into form--a shift in these shifting times designed to invite more innovation, true collaboration, and better communication.

Now and beyond this year's conference, I trust you'll keep your attention here, take advantage of opportunities to engage, to gather, both virtually and in person, and to gain deeper insights through relationships with each other and with those playing leadership roles in the organization.

I am so looking forward to meeting and greeting more of us, the ones we've been waiting for.

Blesses,

Denise

Volunteer Spotlight

ISSSEEM thrives on the enthusiasm and support of its members and volunteers. We value and appreciate each and everyone who lends a helping hand: Our Board of Directors, Publication Editors, Program Committee, Conference Volunteers and those who assist with projects through out the year. The significant contributions of our volunteer staff are essential for smooth operation and continued success.

The volunteer spotlight this month is Jackie Turner!

Jackie shares how she got involved with ISSSEEM, and why she enjoys volunteering:

Jackie Turner
Jackie Turner

My friend Maryann Swartz, ISSSEEM bookstore coordinator, asked around for volunteers, and I responded.  I had heard that Brian Greene would be one of the speakers at that particular conference.  Since I have an interest in theoretical physics and Brian Green's books, I thought volunteering would be a great way to see him.  Maryann knew this and let me help with his book signing.  (Maryann is wonderful!)  I've helped in the ISSSEEM bookstore ever since my first conference, ordering product from Sounds True as well as helping with other bookstore tasks before and during the conference.

Being a volunteer in the bookstore with Maryann proved to be an enlightening and joyous experience.  Meeting other people from around the world, having the opportunity to work with Sounds True people and their ordering department, and volunteering for an interesting organization has been a fascinating experience.  ISSSEEM draws people from all walks of life, and they are a kind, caring group.

I love books, so being in an atmosphere with authors and their writings fills me with joy.  I am an editor, so I enjoy seeing authors' words touch so many people in such profound ways.  Keep up the good work, ISSSEEM!

The Soul of Science

Submitted by Krishna Madappa   Krishna Madappa

OM : An inspiring conveyance from the Atharva Veda (Wisdom Texts of Bharat):

"We are the birds of the same nest
We may wear different skins
We may speak different tongues
We may believe in different religions
We may belong to different cultures
Yet we share the same home, EARTH
Born on the same planet
Covered by the same skies
Gazing at the same stars
Breathing the same air
We must learn to progress together
Or, miserably perish together
For a person can live individually
But, can only survive collectively. "

Jin Shin Jyutsu
Ancient form of massage offers new hope for healing

Bradley is practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu, an ancient Japanese healing technique that predates acupuncture. The goal of the light-touch massage is to get the energy of the body flowing in the best way possible, Bradley said.

"We think of it as kind of a jumper cable," she said, "a spark to get the energy going."

Bruce Lipton, Spontaneous Evolution

Spontaneous Evolution, Our Positive Future and a Way to Get There From Here  by Bruce H Lipton, PhD

We've all heard stories of people who experienced seemingly miraculous recoveries from illness, but can the same thing happen for our world?

According to pioneering biologist Bruce H. Lipton, it's not only possible, it's already happening.

Carol A. Wilson, Healing Power Beyond MedicineCarol A. Wilson's extraordinary book, Healing Power Beyond Medicine, A Guide to Remove Obstacles and Reclaim Joy is an inspiring work, densely packed with fact, case histories and personal observations about what she calls the biopsychosocial-spiritual paradigm.

Quotations from Buddha, the Bible, Rumi, and a host of other poets, saints and spiritual leaders are peppered throughout along with inspirational poetry and transformational stories taken from case histories of Wilson's clients.

Seek The Lover Within Volume II: Lessons from 50 Spiritual Leaders by Tuula Fai Seek The Lover Within: Lessons from 50 Spiritual Leaders
by Tuula Fai

What we're all seeking is direction and purpose. To become finders, we need to refocus our search from outside of ourselves to within, to that sacred inner place of divine wisdom.

The spiritual leaders profiled in this book have all "inquired within" in one way or another, and found what they sought... at least in part. Even as "finders" we are led to seek and seek again. We are finders and seekers, finders and seekers, repeating the cycle over and over. But, with each new search, we have a greater understanding of exactly what we're looking for.
