Greetings!
Not wishing to dramatize the scale of recent crises in our world or bring undue emphasis to the potentially far-reaching effects of them, I do want to remind us all to cherish the beauty and endurance of the human spirit.
As heart-wrenching choices are being cruelly foisted on countless fellow humans and many more remain ensnared in overwhelming lack of choice, may we join together in letting "Light stream forth into the hearts of Everyone," as the Great Invocation directs.
One of the most touching requests for support that appeared in my inbox in recent weeks was simply to send cooling, calming, blue energy to the hot spots. Whether what called for attention were areas of political unrest, war or natural disaster, leaking nuclear reactors, or Colorado's fires, I suddenly felt I could do something. Being a humanitarian underendowed with finacial wealth or time, I still have some pretty unique "apps" that can be benefitial to others. I encourage you to be creative using your own in these and the coming times.

ISSSEEM thrives on the enthusiasm and support of its members and volunteers. We value and appreciate each and everyone who lends a helping hand: Our Board of Directors, Publication Editors, Program Committee, Conference Volunteers and those who assist with projects through out the year. The significant contributions of our volunteer staff are essential for smooth operation and continued success.
Each volunteer has their own story to tell. This month I would like to introduce you to Kate Stanford, our Conference Hospitality Team Leader
 I met Denise at a Lifespark breakfast a number of years ago and started volunteering for ISSSEEM. This will be the 4th year I've been the Lead for the Hospitality team. I love working with this group of fun and talented people or as I love to call them "My Peeps". Each year is different. We've had volunteers from CO, MN, CT and other locations. My folks are guides, helpers and lights during the conference.
I love being with like-minded people and assisting our guests/participants during the conference. Starting early in the year, I work with new & experienced volunteers as we line up our plan for the conference which includes covering daily, nightly, breakout, Members Choice, workshops and other parts of the conference. I also love getting to know the presenters, board members and other volunteers.
I was a broadcast producer for over 25 years and started training in the healing arts 15 yrs ago. I have a practice in Lakewood, Colorado, providing a number of energy modalities including Healing Touch, Healing Touch for Animals, and Reiki, plus, I'm a certified Sound Therapist. I'm a contractor and volunteer for the Hospice of Saint John's and coordinate classes for AnatomyForHealers.com. I'm a current member of Healing Touch Professional Organization and ISSSEEM.

William F. (Bill) Burtis, a founder of The Academy of Parapsychology and Medicine in Los Altos, CA, passed away this week at a care facility in Sacramento, CA.
Bill, and his fellow Lockheed executive Bob Mattson, launched the Academy in the late 1960s to further information about emerging healing practices that were gaining public awareness. Their first event was a conference at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA, "The Varieties of Healing Experience." That success was followed by the first national symposium on acupuncture at Stanford in June, 1972. Though originally planned for 200 physicians, James Reston of the New York Times went to China with President Nixon and experienced an appendectomy surgery there with acupuncture analgesia and was awake during the procedure. He wrote a full page editorial in the New York Times and 1,400 doctors came to the symposium. After the symposium, the Academy conducted a series of 13 professional workshops on acupuncture throughout the West
These landmark events were followed by a five event series, "The Dimensions of Healing," held at Stanford, UCLA, Oakland, Chicago, and New York, throughout 1973-74, attended by more than 10,000. Speakers at these events included many ISSSEEM leaders - - - Elmer Green, Bill Tiller, Gladys and Bill McGarey, Norm Shealy, and more.
Bill's long-time interest was Personology, a study of the significant relationship between physical structure and personality traits. He used this valuable technique in vocational training and counseling for life direction. His wife, Janelle. continues their joint efforts through the Personology Institute in Orangevale, CA.
