The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM) is an international non-profit interdisciplinary organization dedicated to exploring and applying subtle energies as they relate to the experience of consciousness, healing, and human potential. ISSSEEM is in a unique position, acting both as a bridge builder between communities and a leader in the field, offering a community with a widespread appreciation of the energetic component within many disciplines including quantum physics, therapeutic modalities, healing, psychology, consciousness, psi and the understanding of our multidimensional existence.

Greetings Friends!

Grateful for YOU who are ISSSEEM.

Denise Lewis PremschakPerhaps you have read one of those "good news/bad news" tales: A peasant receives a sorely needed horse from a friend: good news! the horse becomes seriously ill: bad news. A kind aunt pays for the poor animal's medicine: good news. Then, as the peasant travels to the apothecary, robbers attack him. The story goes on and on through many changes of fortune.  The concluding message of whether good news or bad news?  It's our perception in the moment.  This applies readily to gratefulness. We naturally give thanks for things we perceive to be beneficial, and tend to balk at perceived adversity.

ISSSEEM is at a crossroads at 21 years old - remember being 21?  There was good news and bad news about stepping into a new level of maturity and responsibility--  about that 'rebirth' into something called adulthood.  I am feeling much gratitude for the past and present caregivers-members, donors, volunteers-their vision, their giving, their presence.  And a deep well of gratitude is here for those who will step up to work creatively and purposely shoulder to shoulder on the building blocks needed for this renewal time in the life of ISSSEEM.

I am grateful for those who find us and how ISSSEEM serves to make a difference in lives.  Member-volunteer, Diana (read more about her in the volunteer spotlight below) says:

"ISSSEEM's niche is the intersection of several of my interest areas:  healing/medicine; spirituality; "psychic" phenomena; and the scientific study of subtle/unseen forces (aka, physics).  ISSSEEM is a place for people who refuse to pre-define and delimit Reality; who are willing to look scrupulously at phenomena that some reject automatically as "impossible" and others ascribe unthinkingly to deity.  ISSSEEM can provide a venue for people to share and refine their research and their ideas; a haven for those who fear they are "going crazy" because our culture defines their anomalous experiences as "dereistic thinking;" and a resource for those whose seeking has just begun. We have much to offer one another as a community, from simple validation of experiences, to sharing those experiences as data for the researcher, to analyzing and identifying patterns in the experiences, to suggesting causal factors or mechanisms by which anomalous experiences occur."

Let us pause amid the rush and activity and enter into an authentic feeling of GREAT FULLness.  Be with the grand interweaving of the events of our lives-the good, the bad.  Be surprised and delighted by the all the opportunities for gratitude.

Season's Blessings here, there and everywhere.

Denise

Message from our President

Jacob LibermanI was first introduced to ISSSEEM 20 years ago, when I was invited to deliver a presentation at their annual conference. At the time there were just a small number of physicians and scientists investigating the existence of subtle energies and the emerging field of energy medicine, as the foundation for a new scientific paradigm integrating both science and spirituality.

Now, just 21 years later, ISSSEEM has assembled a remarkable pool of knowledge and research, directly supporting what we have always known, that spirit and science are inseparably connected. Along with this knowledge and vision, comes a responsibility to share it with the world. At no other time has this been more important, because our view of the world is linked to the world we view. To accomplish this global task, we need your help, and we need it NOW!

ISSSEEM is the only organization embracing a comprehensive, evidence-based paradigm that supports consciousness-based healing backed by science. Since its founding, ISSSEEM has brought together and inspired more than 30,000 researchers, healers, and seekers. Now, we must touch the millions worldwide, who yearn for this new vision and the wisdom that accompanies it. Help us reach them!

Over the years, a relatively small group of dedicated pioneers has sustained this unique community. As consumers and practitioners of integrative healing, the torch is now in your hands. Each year at this time, we reach out to ask you and other community members to support our efforts with a generous donation.

If you value ISSSEEM as a community, a source of information - and a source of inspiration - I hope you'll choose to act right now. Together we can do extraordinary things that will change the world. ISSSEEM is ushering in a new awareness, a new science, and a new common sense.  Please help us keep this vision alive and moving forward. CLICK to donate to the Campaign to Connect.

Gratefully Yours,

Jacob Liberman
President 2010/2011

Campaign to Connect

campaign to connect  We've reached 40% of our Goal.

We need your financial support to make
The Campaign to Connect a success.

We live in an unprecedented time-a time when more and more people are awakening to the growing body of experiential and scientific evidence related to subtle energies and the boundless benefits of energy medicine.

Never has it been more critical to reach out and connect to what brings meaning, purpose, and progress to others - never has it been more important to acknowledge our interconnectedness.

Year after year, ISSSEEM plays a key role in this emerging paradigm.  Annual conferences, publications and the work of members continue to merge the perceived gap between science and spirit.

Phase I of the Campaign is a $25,000 funding initiative aimed at upgrading and expanding the ISSSEEM technology infrastructure to provide relevant programs and services to more people through the Internet and Social Media Networks.

VolunteersVolunteer Spotlight

ISSSEEM thrives on the enthusiasm and support of its members and volunteers. We value and appreciate each and everyone who lends a helping hand. The significant contributions of our volunteer staff are essential for  smooth operation and continued success.

Each volunteer has their own story to tell. This month I would like to introduce you to Diana Hunt, our Volunteer Coordinator.

Diana HuntIn 2010, I served as Volunteer Coordinator for the annual conference. I aim to ensure that all positions are covered and that new attendees have the opportunity to experience ISSSEEM by volunteering.

I enjoy helping people; but the best part is the mental stimulation from interacting with new people and ideas.  I used to see myself as a lonely voice in the wilderness; now I know there are many people all over the world who share my values and interests. And many of them have actually done things - research and practice - with concepts that I have only thought about.  It's exhilarating!

The best descriptor for me is "diverse."  I seek both broad and deep experience of life. I've held many jobs, but my primary professional roles are psychologist, minister/priestess, and writer.

While my husband works in the gas/oil fields, I am moving our "homestead" towards "off the grid" permaculture. We garden organically and I have fantasies of raising chickens and a miniature cow.  I enjoy designing and building things, like the greenhouse we built from old school windows.  While not exactly a "survivalist," I want to be able to live without modern technology if necessary.

I have considerable experience in theater and dance.  I enjoy creating "garb" for Society for Creative Anachronism events.  I'd love to make films. My daughter once told me, "Mom, you ponder too much!" It's probably true.  I see patterns and meaning everywhere.  My interests are inherently interdisciplinary, and I seek The Big Picture - structures and processes in context.  I ask scientific questions about invisible processes (aka subtle energies), and refuse to consider my own "paranormal" experiences "dereistic."  I see religions and science as metaphor-systems that attempt to explain how the Universe operates and to provide guidelines for successful living as communal creatures.

The Energy Cure: Unraveling the Mystery of Hands-On Healing
by William Bengston, PhD

Can energy healing really cure cancer? Is it possible for you to heal someone's terminal illness with your bare hands? Is the Western medical community ready for a fundamental change in its approach to treatment?...Dr. William Bengston invites you to decide by taking a journey with him into the mystery and power of hands-on healing. Drawing on his 30 years of rigorous research, unbelievable results, and mind-bending questions, Bengston challenges us to totally rethink what we believe about our ability to heal. Part memoir, part instruction, this book explores:
  • How Dr. Bengston discovered and cultivated his healing talent---and how you can do the same
  • Alternative and energetic forms of healing and how they support your body's natural healing process

  • Bengston's paradigm-shifting experimental results and why they seem so difficult for some to believe
  • Image cycling, key to the Bengston Energy Healing Methodâ„¢, a unique method for activating your healing abilities And much more.
Dr. Bengston's true story reads like an adventure novel. With intrigue, insight, mystery, and passion, The Energy Cure offers a fascinating journey to the limits of healing and beyond.

This is a delightful book that I am really enjoying. The story follows Mark, a nine year old boy dealing with the challenges all children grow through and his insightful parents who lovingly guide him on being a better person and integrating socially. It's a wonderful book for parents, teachers and children. It's not just a message for children but a refresher for us all. It's nourishing my inner child.

Being a Better Me, Volume 1 by Diane M. Yelencsics

being a better me

The series Being a Better Me consists of five volumes of short stories written to assist children between the ages of 6 and 11 in becoming better people. Nine-year-old Mark is taught a noteworthy lesson within each storyline. The author then poses a challenge to the readers at each chapter's end, encouraging them to incorporate what they have learned into their way of thinking and everyday lives. The entire series provides informative building blocks that serve as the foundation of a child's character development. Diane Yelencsics gives young readers simple, real life scenarios to make them recognize their own individual significance and the impact they have on others.

"As parents we need to instill within our children the self-assurance they need to face the many challenges in life. A child needs to develop a logical thought process that they can depend on. There is a magnitude of knowledge offered within these storylines that encourage children to become decent human beings. My purpose in writing this series is to help goodness find its way into the heart of every child."
