The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM) is an international non-profit interdisciplinary organization dedicated to exploring and applying subtle energies as they relate to the experience of consciousness, healing, and human potential. ISSSEEM is in a unique position, acting both as a bridge builder between communities and a leader in the field, offering a community with a widespread appreciation of the energetic component within many disciplines including quantum physics, therapeutic modalities, healing, psychology, consciousness, psi and the understanding of our multidimensional existence.

Greetings!
Greetings ISSSEEM Community!
Nature's rebirth cycle honors and encourages us on our journeys. Here in the Colorado Rockies, Spring is showing her resilient desire to express. Buds emerge, but stay wrapped up and napping. Robins arrive to find snow piled high! I'm watchful of the mystery and magic in the mirrors Nature offers as the heartbeat of ISSSEEM quickens with hidden springtime activity. What's behind the scenes here will become bountifully apparent in the full bloom of summer that is our 19th annual conference. Besides conference preparations, recipes and ingredients for both Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine Journal Issue 19.2 and the next Bridges Magazine are laid out on our table. Our editors devote extraordinary care and attention to choosing the freshest elements, crafting the blend and balance, applying clever alchemy and then guiding the staff, as would a chef, through the assembly, filling, frosting and decorating of multi-layered 'tortes'. Your 'slice' in the form of these next issues promises to be tasty indeed. You'll hear from us more often in the next several weeks - we're adding four special editions of eSEEM devoted to particular aspects of the conference. Remember, your contributions and your comments are valuable - let us hear what is calling to be awakened or rebirthed for you this season. "May we sit around the table of restoration, may we break bread around the table, may we stand on top of the table, may we turn the table over and dance, leap, leap for joy." Terry Tempest Williams, LEAP (adapted)
Blesses,
Denise

Jack Stucki Demonstrates the Luminator

When: Friday, May 1st at 7 p.m. Where: Crossings 8505 Fenton Street Silver Spring, Maryland
Jack Stucki is a sound and vibration therapist, biofeedback practitioner, and a healer who lives in Colorado. He will describe and demonstrate his work with the Luminator, an instrument that can make the etheric field partially visible. It has been used as a research device for medical diagnosis, but Jack has pioneered a method of using it so that often, but not always, images of energies surrounding the human body are captured on film. The Luminator can change the resonance in a room so that when Polaroid pictures are taken, spirit faces, energy forms, shapes, lights, or orbs can be seen around the person being photographed. Sometimes the faces are those of loved ones who are no longer alive, at other times the faces of well-known personalitites can be seen. Jack uses these glimpses of other energies in his healing work, clearing a client's field if the energies are not constructive. He has said that seeing the anomalies that show up on some photographs can be very useful, but he believes we need to not get caught up in the "wow" of the phenomenon, but instead to concentrate on the guidance we are being given. Above all, Jack says, it is important to get back in touch with a kind of loving awareness of life that we have lost.

Reducing the Effects of Stress and Trauma The HeartMath System for Military Personnel

As word of HeartMath's success at helping our nation's soldiers has spread, the demand for information and assistance has grown from military personnel, doctors and others. HeartMath has been offered a remarkable opportunity to reach thousands more soldiers nationwide to prepare them mentally, physically and emotionally for the stresses of combat duty by producing a training video with the military's help on HeartMath's methods and technology.
NICABM Setting the standard for excellence in mind/body medicine training
NICABM has put out a free report on mindfulness that I think you'll want to read. One of the reasons it is so exciting is that it highlights some of the most important research that's been done on mindfulness, including some intriguing brain imaging studies.
As you know, mindfulness continues to gain ground in clinical practice - it's non-invasive, yet so remarkably powerful. This report is full of some very valuable clinical ideas.

The Power of Premonitions: How Knowing the Future can shape our lives By Larry Dossey, M.D.
 The doctor-and bestselling author-who first
demonstrated the healing effects of prayer now offers an unprecedented
look at the science of premonitions. New Release Due out May 2009
When Larry Dossey was
in his first year of medical practice, he experienced a week of
premonitions about patients, all of which came true. He had never had
them before; they seemed to have come out of left field. After the
sensations stopped, writes Dossey in The Power of Premonitions,
"It was as if the universe, having delivered a message, hung up the
phone. It was now my job to make sense of it-which I try to do in this
book."
The four parts of The Power of Premonitions take
readers through documented cases of premonitions, including a
remarkable instance when an entire Nebraska community skipped church
the very day it exploded; an examination of recent science studying
what is known as "presentiment"; a discussion of what it all means to
daily life; and practical, field-tested techniques for inviting
premonitions.
Just as he did in Healing Words, the
groundbreaking book that propelled Dossey into the public
consciousness, in this compelling new book Dossey uses cutting-edge
science to prove the value of what had long been considered spiritual
mumbo-jumbo. This is a book for the skeptical mind, but it's also for
the believer's heart-because its author possesses the rare gift of
having both.
Staff Reads
From Linda Block, Office Administrator I have been enjoying this new book released January 2009. I resonate with most of his theories about who we are as human beings and how we came to be. This book will give you plenty of food for thought.
The Project: The Past, Present and Future of Humanity by Mark Macy
What does it really mean to be "human?" Based on Mark Macy's 30 years of research and collaboration with brilliant minds of the world comes this book, The Project.
In 1992, author Mark Macy visited researchers in Europe who claimed to be in direct contact with spirits and angels through telephones, radios, televisions, computers and other devices - a field of research called Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC). Moved by their honesty, dedication and miraculous results, Macy began collaborating with those researchers, and soon he himself began to get phone calls from the other side.
The Project takes a penetrating look at what it really means to be "human," based on Macy's research and collaboration with brilliant minds from around the world and beyond.

"The difference between mind and heart is like the surface and the bottom.
It is the surface of the heart which is mind, and it is the depth of the mind which is heart.
The mind expresses the faculty of thinking, the heart of feeling." Hazrat Inayat Khan
